I took the ACT and I live in the midwest so SAT isnt so popular here, and I didnt do totally hot on my subject tests...i will retake in october but do i REALLY need to submit them?

I have great grades and strong EC's....so would I be at a huge disadvantage if I didn't submit any..?

BTW my scores are like mid-600's

I had a similar question when I was applying to Emory, and this is what an admissions officer said (cut and pasted from an email):

“SAT II scores can help but never hurt your chances of being admitted. We do not require them, so you do not have to submit them if you choose not to. Like any supplemental information, they can be helpful with the review process.”

Since the scores are RECOMMENDED, I don’t think you will be at a disadvantage if you didn’t submit them. However, if you took the SAT IIs and did well on them, it can only help your case if you send them.

You could definitely still be admitted if you did not submit your SAT II scores… that is not going to break your application.

Plenty of people (including myself) have submitted the ACT alone and had great success. With that being said, only do this if your ACT score is very solid, and if you’ve done well on some SAT IIs, then by all means submit them.

Okay thanks! That’s helpful!

I would not submit low 600’s bcos they won’t help much, if at all. IMO, for unhooked candidates, ~650 is probably the cutoff for a school like Emory.

^ yes but there are some kids who have slightly below 600 who still got in. But if you have scores like that you will possibly not get in thru EDI or II, hook or no hook

can’t hurt if you get 700+ on all your subject tests…subject tests aren’t that hard, just take subjects you like and you will do fine…
