It's officially begun!

Everyone break a leg on their auditions!!

Remember that the nerves are never completely going to go away. The great actors find a way to take the energy that their nerves are giving them, and re-channel that energy into their performance.

3rd app in… UNCSA!!!.. Audition scheduled for Jan 18th-on campus, but realized I have to reschedule it because he will be at DePaul that weekend… I seriously need to start the dreaded spreadsheet:)

I am so jealous! This Friday is our do or die date…Please send prayers…

UNCSA is not really that hard of an app to do… no essay, just basic input. Trust me… we still have a looooong way to go before we rest:) My S had Friday off, so he was able to get the CA essay done( still has to be looked over by GC and English teacher, and bang out some app’s. The problem is I need the GC to send transcripts but they are lagging…UGH… and I still need to get headshot done… but NO time to drive to LA. I rescheduled his Chapman audition till Nov. because I just don’t see him getting everything done that he needs for that audition before then.

It would figure I’ve been reading posts by someone with the name “5boys” ever since joining CC, because I only have 2boys and they were less than two years apart in age  5boys, I’ve so enjoyed reading your posts through the years (since 2009, I guess, when my oldest (non-actor) was applying?_ and am looking forward to following your son’s journey this year!

Thanks for the update, 5boys. My son has been working on the UNCSA app and has been saying that he can’t figure out where the essay is. I keep telling him I’ll take a look at it, but just haven’t. So now the goal is to get that sent in this evening! That will be his first completed. How quickly could you schedule the audition after submitting?

Generally speaking, the school will invite the student to schedule an audition as soon as the application is processed.

The amount of time before this happens varies from school to school. I’d say a week or two would be reasonable, but it could be longer.

UNCSA has a two page “artistic statement” dont they?

Yes… UNCSA does have an artistic statement, but it is not part of the general app. It has to be sent in before your audition along with your resume, headshot and teacher rec’s. When you fill out the app, one of the last questions is what date and time you would like your audition to be, so it is helpful to look at the dates posted on their website before you get to that part. What I forgot to do, is tell my S the dates he already had auditions scheduled, so now we have to call and reschedule at UNCSA… I think in a couple days after you submit the app. they will email you with confirmation.

Thanks for the kind words UVa:)) Do you have a theater S or D applying this year? This is my #5 boy… I can’t believe it is almost over… and this one is going to go out with a bang!!

Thanks for the follow up, 5boys. I knew about the artistic statement, etc, that had to go in before the audition, we just weren’t sure about an essay with the app.

And thanks for explaining how the audition scheduling works. I understand that it happens after processing, just wanted a specific timeframe for UNCSA because its a top contender and I’m worrying about getting in all the auditions, since so many schools have overlapping days.

I appreciate your help!

Happy to report the first application was submitted and the audition appointment was confirmed today…about 12 hours later! UNCSA. Thanks for the tips 5boys!

My D and I took the day off from school and work to complete common app and applications…we submitted BU, Emerson, NYU, Chapman, Fordham and SUNY Purchase. Fordham, BU and Chapman auditions booked. Now I am off to drink two bottles of wine…

Wow! I’m impressed!

bisouu, how soon after you submitted your common application did BU email you a link to apply for an applicant ID number?

We’ve finished all 14 apps, except for one essay, and I need to check on the teacher recommendations end. We have 11 auditions confirmed. Today we are shooting the one pre screen video she needs.
Arwarw, for Boston I used the common app ID number that you can see on the PDF’s that generate. I think your number may also be in the upper right corner of the common app website when you are logged in.

Thanks dramamom0804! My daughter is now scheduled.

It was very strange…on the BU scheduler the ID# needed said optional so we didn’t even put it in. But last week when I tried the ID was required.

WOW guys!!! I am impressed! Son’s completed CA and essay is still getting reviewed by his GC:( The GC has to check everything off before he can submit it.

GCmom, awesome about UNCSA… are you doing on on campus audition?

dramamom… does the CA to BU have to be submitted to get the CA ID#?

5boys We didn’t put in any numbers at all for BU. Have you tried scheduling without any?

No ID # required for BU today - but it was required a couple days ago.
