It's time for Vietnamese thread !!!

Yeah,a huge change by the US Government ;)

Why stop? We are having fun.Sensitive and controversial issue? What is it?
They have too see by naked eyes,I totally agree. But if they look for social problems solely, they will not see good things about Vietnam.I am trying to tell them what to expect. ;)

@HiLine: what do you mean by "a huge change by the US Gov" ? The US Gov did not "accidentally" make such a big change !

It did in 1994.

@HiLine: What you ARE TRYING TO TELL is just your OWN POINT OF VIEW. Thus, I believe it is NOT SUBJECTIVE. So you'd better stop it.

"It did in 1994". Yeah, but why did it do that? Because at least the Vnmese Gov showed some small signs of innovation

Because Bill Clinton was smart. He realized the importance of a communication between the 2 countries, and acnknowledged that his predecessors had made a severe mistake by setting the embargo.

Grrr , chill out Hiline n hlvietlong :D ! As Long said , this kind of topic is TOO sensitive to be discussed in a forum , esp when it comes to ones that have nothing to do with politics like CC ! :). Long , you learned Mr. Strict and I make a guess that you remember what his advice is about participating in any forum , huh ? His words hunt me every now and then :) ( how fear-triggering his words are when they are accompanied by examples :D ). So , ...........................................

@vlong : Your grades scare me to death !Even worse are you words about the acquaintance of our system :(. You have the ability to make people feel depressed right after thier relief :D :(

Well, where in my posts did you find a piece of political issue? Everything is legal.

Nah, freedom of speech is not illegal. But according to me and Khoa, you just stop it, OK ? No more about this issue. This 4rum is all about applying to US colleges

Is it not OK to "introduce" our country to Vietnamese Americans?

I thought we have freedom of speech which gives us the right to say whatever things we want. In fact, trying to prevent ppl from posting stm by saying "according to me and sb else..." is not convincing (and not grammatically correct I think?)
I am posting here because this thread is getting more and more interesting. Talking about colleges or saying Hi(s) is boring IMO. We should move to as many topics as possible.
Back to "colleges stuff", do you guys apply to any other college/university besides US ones? I'm applying to SMU and still waiting. I wonder what took them for so long to mail out decision. ::worried::

Hello ppl! How many ppl on this thread have applied to MIT?
btw, I m from India :)

Well,I did not.Good luck,ronty007 ;)

Thanks :) Where have u applied to?

I apply to several LACS . You probably don't know their names. ;)

I have applied to only one LAC...Swarthmore :D

@jaah: Why do you have to care so much about grammar? At least you should show some respect by stop shouting things that others do not want to hear. If you still want to discuss, just go on.
To me, this issue is not so interesting as you think. The best way to change Vnmese Americans' point of view is not telling (introducing or whatever...) them about our country as they will NOT believe in "viet cong"'s words. They should see it with their own eyes

@ronty007: Sorry for such a mess in our topic.I think just a few Vnmese students (or none) apply to MIT as the standards are pretty high and MIT did not admit so many Vnmese applicants as other LACs and Ivies (Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth)

I thought Harvard's standard was high too :p
Anyways, where all have u applied?

hlvietlong, please do not say this is a mess.Vietnamese Americans are usually forced by their parents to abhor their country of origin. Now is the 21st century, those young men should know the truth.
