IU Bloomington expects bigger, better freshman class

<p>BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Indiana University expects another large freshman class this year, including many students who did well in high school and scored high on college entrance exams.</p>

<p>"It's been a great year," said Roger Thompson, the university's vice provost for enrollment management. "It just raises the bar for next year."</p>

<p>Administrators have pushed for more selective admissions at the school's Bloomington campus. The number of top-level Indiana students with grade-point averages of at least 3.5 and SAT scores higher than 1,200 who indicated they plan to attend IU rose 15 percent, Thompson said.</p>

<p>Good news, I guess--although it makes it tougher to get into the honors programs. I notice that Hutton Honors is raising the requirement for admittance from a 3.6 GPA to a 3.7 GPA starting next year.</p>
