I am a senior accepted to IU! I’m 90% sure I’m going to IU next year, I just have a few questions.
-What’s the best freshman dorm/living center for me? I’m social, like to party and hope to be surrounded by friendly people who will introduce themselves and make friends quickly. I would prefer being around a group that does like to go out on weekends to parties, but not constantly if that makes sense?
-IU has been ranked as a party school before. How would you describe the overall party scene at IU? Is it too much?
-Where do most business majors live, and how are their social lives? I know the business school at IU is tough.
-How does rush work for fraternities. I’m from out of state if that makes a difference, so I won’t know anyone. Best way for me to meet new people and join a frat?
-Last question. Is Bloomington a good college town? Do students get bored or are there things to do around?
Thanks for the help!
- If you are majoring in business, I would recommend the KLLC. If not the KLLC, northwest and central are both good.
- Parties are always there if you want to go, but nobody is going to force you to go out. Occasionally running into a few drunk people in the dorms is unavoidable, but it is what you make it. I have never felt that the party scene is dominating.
- The business school is challenging, but there is a good work-life balance. The work is rarely overwhelming. I am a sophomore majoring in accounting and I can usually hang out with my friends when they want to.
- No idea on frats, sorry.
- There are definitely good restaurants around Bloomington, but I wouldn't say there is a ton to do. I spend a lot of time playing pickup basketball, tennis, and going to IU sporting events. Occasionally I will go to the weekly free movie in the union, but that's most of what I do on campus. I rarely feel bored though. Between schoolwork, friends, and the aforementioned things, I am usually doing something.
If you have any other questions about IU/Kelley, feel free to ask.
