I got into IU Kelley w/ Dean’s Scholarship and I also applied to McCombs and am awaiting on its decision.
If it comes to the choice where I have to decide between IU Kelley and UT Austin McCombs for Management, what would you guys prefer?
- I want to go into management consulting and have the best chance of being recruited by big firms like McKinsey, Bain, etc.
What I’ve always been told about looking at two schools of the same caliber is that choose the school where you see yourself most comfortable at. Tour both schools and also ask yourself where you’d like to work after college. If it’s Chicago/NYC Indians is prob your better bet. Both schools are excellent business schools nonetheless.
The big consulting firms recruit from both schools.
One thing to consider, this type of consulting usually involves regular Monday to Thursday travel to the client site. There are consultants who are technically based out of one city/office while living somewhere else entirely. If you are willing to travel in to your office city now and again, it really does not matter as much where you live.
