Hello guys
I'm also applying to IUB, but in the 3rd round.. I hope we all get admitted (although I don't have that much chances, since I'm applying pretty late ;) )

does that mean applying to round 1 put us in better position?

^ Well, I think so, I heard that quite a lot

oh good.....

come on guys..just recovered this thread from the end of page 2....

You aren't in much different position :)
It's just that I might not get any financial aid, even if I should (this is an example), because the guys from the first two rounds took all the available money meant for financial aid :) This is the only disadvantage when applying in the later rounds (as I understood from the site)

oh does that really happen...I mean do they tend to give finaid on the basis of 'first come first sever' policy?

^ i think this is true and that would be great if i get acceptance.

yeah...i hope they take in more ppl in round 1 as well hehe....

I hope they reject everyone except those who apply in round 2 :P .. just kidding... shail i honestly think u have nothing to worry about :)

well as far as round 2 goes...almost everyone is applying from Nepal in round 2....anyways thanks waleedk87......hehe....i am a bit calm now...

Anyone knows what the average finaid package at IUB is? And is finaid available for transfers?

well i know that it is pretty liberal in terms of finaid.....at least that's one reason why i applied there.....

the finaid is independant of the round you apply to .. its on the basis of your financial status.. however scholarships if any are generally awrded in earlier rounds..

but again there are exceptions, i recieved a scholarship even though i was in round 3

There is no average finaid package here as the student backgrounds are quite diverse. Moreover IUB ( henceforth Jacobs) is a needblind university so you will get all you need to sustain yourself

SM

and yes the chances of acceptance are high in the earlier rounds than in the subsequent ones.. :)

SM

Concerning the financial aid:
Don't expect too much from it if you are not from a (rather) poor country. Most Germans or students from other better-off countries end up paying 80-100% of the tuition in the long run (family contribution + postponement). In many cases this seems to be irrespective of the family background AND irrespective of academic merit:
Some friends and I (all Germans) got almost the same packages despite significant differences in the family's financial potential.
Some people with huge scholarships are on the brink of flunking out while some of the best people I know around here have no or almost no scholarship.
However, this is just my impression and I certainly do not have any official statistics on the average financial aid package

SM!!! what were ur stats...and how many scholarships do they usually award?....

Of course there are exceptions.. A friend of mine also applied in the 3rd round and got almost full scholarship.

So they wouldn't give scholarships to ppl from better off countries??? Since I am American does that mean I have no chace at scholarships??
