Well I haven't physically received a letter or status update, but I can already tell I've been rejected. According to my speculation of this assumption, I will give you "the clues":

I've been forwarded for a month

when they received my financial aid, they went ahead and marked my FAFSA and custodial form, & divorce settlement as received, but the tax returns have been on pending for about 2 weeks!?
** why would they start reviewing, then stop if they were going to process the financial aid for an acceptance package.??

Look at what day it is March 24: 3/24, they only have a few days left! If mine was forwarded since that long ago shouldn't they be done reviewing it by now before they forward more applications to them....

I'm in the position to qualify for a Norman Topping Scholarship Fund, and I haven't been contacted for an interview & they said they contact in March.

Other than this process My application isn't "the greatest." I had:

African female
applied for Marshall business administration
live in Texas

AWESOME ESSAYS & short answers

wonderful & alot of EC's and leadership

very nice resume (even though it doesn't show up in my materials received)

7 AP classes

low stats 3.5 GPA 1720 SAT, 3 on AP US History

alright rank 49/471

Mid year report GREAT IMPROVEMENT!:
3.6 GPA 42/449 ; several A's in AP Classes: english literature, macroeconomics, calculus AB, US Govt
-bombed my interview, lol I told her I was interested in business, communications, AND pre-med

So yes, I already kno what my letter will say when I receive it April 11. lol; Even though USC was my NUMBER 1 choice, I guess I will go to UT Austin, UC Irvine, or wait to get off U of Miami's waitlist.

Have any of y'all already come to this conclusion?

Our tax returns are pending too. I sent everything at the same time evern though they are listed as received, idk what that means. I’m so confused and frustrated :-/. To ndancerx my d got into UT so maybe USC is not in the cards for her. Two big schools is maybe too much. UGH!!!

lol i like how ur so upfront haha i totally bombed an interview for a local scholarship too and have almost the same scores as u! 4.14 weighted gpa and 3.73 uw. 1850 sats

I didn’t even know about the financial aid link. My mom submitted her tax returns via email to the Fin Aid office and received a note back that they did not need the tax returns; they were going off of FAFSA this year. I assumed it was because I didn’t qualify for any aid. NOW, when I click on the Fin Aid link, nothing happens.

This happened before I was forwarded. Was I supposed to submit docs through this link?

Remember that USC makes it’s admission decisions “need blind”. These are 2 different departments with independent findings. I spoke with the fin aid office yesterday regarding docs they were asking for and they specifically told me this. So “pending” fin aid docs means they are acknowledging they have rec’d them but they have not processed the financial aid package yet. It is highly regulated based on tax return and fafsa info and anything else they ask for.
Werty, our docs were submitted via FAX. You can call down there and ask the financial aid office if you are not sure they have everything they need. Just plan on being on hold a few minutes before they answer.

You say we have 7 days left but remember they received 28,000+ applications! Why would they go back after having had a chance to review it once, (* and also after the preliminary review) & It’s been over a month. Plus most the people who got their applications “forwarded” the same time I did got accepted in the last wave…

um, there is not really anything to accept, seeing as though u didn’t actually receive a rejection. so, maybe that’s not such a good idea?

With regards to the missing financial aid documents, I was accepted first wave and I forgot to turn in my non-filer statement and my parents’ tax returns (sent to IDOC but I guess I have to personally send to USC…). Sorry to hear about the rejection, but I don’t think it was due to the FA stuff.
