I waited until the last minute to pick a college. I finally decided I want to commit to UF and realized I missed the deadline for a Fall housing contract. I've never applied for housing before and I was so confused as I was doing it alone. My parents absolutely refuse to have me live off campus. However I'd really rather go to UF than to the UNiversity of Tampa because I worked so hard and UTampa is so easy to get into. UF is the best state school in Florida. What are my chances of getting off of the wait list?? I've looked at other forums and can't find anything. I need a decision by May 1. I'm so heartbroken about this I need some kind of hope. I would start UF in the Summer and I have on campus housing for that.

You have a decent chance of getting off the wait list, but you may end up in a temporary triple (same thing happen to me, way back in the day…). The temporary triples are not that bad, and as rooms free up, you could be moved to a normal double.

As a back-up plan you may want to look at private “dorms” that are right next to campus. They are a bit more expensive, and a bit nicer. Since these are very similar to dorms, you parents may feel better about this option.

Good Luck!
