Mid Reach = between a low reach and a high reach.

You are a little lacking in the leadership positions - try running for student council, or starting your own club.

MIT - High Reach [need good SAT/AP scores. + the GPA might hurt a little.]
Carnegie Mellon - High Match
Cornell - Low Reach
UChicago - High Match
UCONN - Yeah. Safety.
Dartmouth - Low/Mid Reach
Columbia - Mid Reach
NYU - Match
Upenn - Mid/High Reach
Cal Tech - Mid Reach
Berkley - Low Reach

I read this just cos of name and ping pong… you look solid. Slightly higher SAT 1 will help. Say 2250 or so. Then just tell them that you play ping pong and get accepted… kidding, but that is impressive

@idio, thanks for reply
thanks for the 2250 sat goal @emil- ok, thats what I was also thinking but I didnt want to say anything since I live on the other side of the US and dont know much about berkley

I don’t know how anyone can chance a student with putative test scores. Wait til you have actual results. i can’t imagine table tennis being a big hook anywhere except in China.

I’ll stick with neversaynever’s predictions. But the point of my reply is about college table tennis teams. I’m a table tennis player myself (ranked top 15 in BC, apparently not as good as you), so I have done a somewhat thorough research on top schools’ table tennis teams. To my surprise, probably due to a fairly considerable Asian population, a lot of top schools are doing extremely well in intercollegiate table tennis competitions. Princeton is ranked #3 in the nation, while Columbia, Berkeley, and Penn are not far behind. I would definitely recommend you to talk to the coaches there and find out what they can do to get you in.

MIT (reach) - reach (for everyone)
Carnegie Mellon - match/high match
Cornell - high match/low reach (Ivies are unpredictable…)
UChicago - high match/low reach considering your essays are excellent
UCONN (safety) - In.
Dartmouth - mid reach (Once again, it’s an Ivy)
Columbia - mid reach/reach (ONCE AGAIN haha, it’s an Ivy)
NYU - match
Upenn (not wharton, just Upenn, reach) - mid reach
Cal Tech - reach (for everyone)
Berkley - match if instate, low reach if out of state

MIT (reach)- reach
Carnegie Mellon- match
Cornell- match
UChicago- low reach
UCONN (safety)- in
Dartmouth- low reach
Columbia- low reach
NYU- in
Upenn (not wharton, just Upenn, reach)- reach
Cal Tech- low reach
Berkley- high reach, sorry but with all these CA budjet costs out of state is ivy league hard ~15% acceptance to oos

Berkeley, NYU, and UConn seem like places that are definitely doable. Your other intended universities are reaches, but they are for most [if not all!] I would assume from your extensive EC’s that you have an interest in Math or Science.

First answer is for the SAT you have listed; the second is for if, when you take it again, you can get it up to over 2200 or 2250 at least

MIT- epic reach/ yeah, reach
Carnegie Mellon- match/ you’re in
Cornell- reach/ low reach
Chicago- if your essay really is as good as you say… mid-reach/ low reach
U-Conn- yeah, safety
Dartmouth- mid-reach/ low reach
Columbia- reach/ mid-reach
NYU- match/ you’re in
U-Penn- reach/ mid-reach
Cal Tech- mid-to-high reach
Berkeley- loooooooow reach

And somebody said that, what with the California budget, it’s now much harder to get into the UCs- not true. If anything, it’s easier, because they NEED the extra 22,000 dollars they get from out-of-staters.

You have great grades and scores; table tennis, math, and science skills; and a lot of community service under your belt. You’re a very strong candidate! My
MIT (reach) – reach
Carnegie Mellon – match
Cornell – match/low reach
UChicago – low reach
UCONN (safety) – safety
Dartmouth – reach
Columbia – reach
NYU – match
Upenn (not wharton, just Upenn, reach) – reach
Cal Tech – reach
Berkley – low reach

You asked where to apply early decision…I would say whichever school you like the most. Most of these schools are either matches or low reaches, so ED would be great, particularly if your first choice is a low reach. Except MIT…has a preettty low early action acceptance rate.
