IVY League Applicants from Nepal - Class of 2018

There are many students from Budhanilkantha School who get into good universities and colleges every year, either from BNKS A-Levels or those who went to do IB in UK who studied in BNKS school. And by many, I mean TOO DAMN MANY .

@NepaliBadaar I really think you’re generalizing things here. Plus, ‘TOO DAMN MANY’ would definitely be an overstatement and those who do get into good colleges most probably deserved it.

@t1234d, they did deserve it, no doubt. But, they have a huge advantage because of the ‘BNKS’ tag. US institutions don’t like to take risks by accepting students from a high school they have never heard of, even if the student is equally deserving as those from BNKS. That’s what I’m saying. ‘TOO DAMN MANY’ is a true ****.

and you know that because you are an admissions officer right?

I really do not think US schools see school TAG!!! It’s upon us, but we can say that big schools here like RBS and BNKS prepare their kids well thats it! They jus dun get coz they are 4m elite scul, but coz they are capable!!

P.S. It’s my personal vision!! :)

As per what I know, BNKS enriches its students with extra curricular skills throughout schooling but when it comes down to college application, students are on their own. One guy in my circle was asking me last week what is difference between ED EA and ED2.
I think his school hasnt prepared him for college app, but rather as a student in 2 years. So getting into colleges is about students themselves, not school I think.

RBS has many kids with educated background and they can utilise the resources given to them wisely. Their english skills are amazing not because school gifted them in Christmas, but because they improved themselves and also they had the foundation bestowed by parents in the first place

----Ask this : How many kids from outside KTM, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Pokhara, Biratnagar get into good colleges? very very very few

Nevertheless, now some personal thoughts : I believe everyone can score high on SAT (it is regardless of which school you attend, though for priviledged ones its gonna be easier). Everybody can score straight A (regardless of school, except in english - if you take Alevel). Everybody can have 2 teachers that can write positive recommendation (regardless of what school) SOme school even allow students to write their own, like Pentagon, where teachers are too busy. Essay is written by students themselves (regardless of school).

umm I think I confused between what I was intending to say and what I wrote coming towards end. Every school has their good and bad parts. But no hard feelings, peace out. I love you all
the harder the struggle the greater the triumph - so if you come from underpriviledge and make it to college, you are the boss here! And noone ain’t got any rights to deny that.

tl;dr - nepalibaadar is just jealous and cannot admit that students who got in when he applied were simply better than him.

I know these things because I know people who have worked for the admissions office in many US colleges. And about me being jealous, I am the last person you will see being jealous. I’m just putting the facts together, the things that most of us don’t know and most of us are never willing to believe. If you don’t like my opinion then ****.

and Phantasmagoria18, I don’t give a rat’s ass of what you think.

Ignore @Nepalibadar Ignore… These people are here just to criticise others’ opinions…

It’s not what I think, NepaliBaadar, it’s what I know  And really? Please tell me how you would be the last person to be jealous if for the past few months all you have done on this forum is spew out discouraging rubbish that largely indicates a hurt ego, not to mention your aggressive expression of false justifications for your personal failure as ostensibly indisputable “facts”?

I am not jealous of anyone who got into good universities in the US, coz I know they are better than me. No one has to tell me that. They have worked hard, no doubt. But, what I said still holds true, may be not for all. Exceptions exist everywhere. the facts that I put are true because those things have happened. And please don’t show your vocab in this group. No body cares.

“the facts that I put are true because those things have happened.” That simply solidifies my (our) argument that you are making excuses to justify past events. It’s okay, NepaliBaadar, nobody is going to listen to you because obviously your inability to accept alternate points-of-view suggests that you are driven by emotion rather than by reason.

However, I must say, there is a difference between being articulate and being a show-off. Clearly you have conflated the two. Also I hope you realize that nobody on here cares about what YOU have to say.

P.S: I see no point in responding to you anymore. I will ignore you now, as is everybody else on here :).

Seems this forum has taken a U turn from discussion of the college application process to useless accusation of other’s thoughts. I mean its cool to express your thoughts about one’s ideas but it isn’t cool to curse at others. Seems some of you have forgotten the essence of this forum. So guys please just rise above all these useless arguments. We are all here for the same purpose and let’s not misuse this forum. I don’t wanna have to go through personal messages on this thread to waste my time or anyone else’s for that matter. Hope everyone agrees

The person posting such remarks should think about it… As for the person above you, I don’t think he/she (I don’t think its he coz boys don’t criticize every opinions of others) needs any suggestions or guidance and i seriously don’t know why he’s wasting time here… If you cannot respect others’ thoughts please don’t send cutting remarks to make him feel low as you have done to @NepaliBadaar, @Phantasmagoria… I have posted this somewhere in the beginning of this thread also…

And please make your English at least understandable… Don’t flaunt your vocab around here @Phantasmagoria…

Again, there is a difference between ‘showing off’ and ‘being articulate’. If you cannot understand my writing, then I have serious reservations about your potential to succeed in a rigorous liberal arts college, should you apply to one.

And please, be more direct when you are addressing me. I had to reread your confusing sentences a few times before I figured out what you meant. Listen, Ameet Bhattarai, there is only so much stupidity a person can bear before feeling the need to be more direct about his or her opinions. This is a discussion forum, and yes, I can and I will be vehement in my posts if I feel like it. If you find it offensive or you are “hurt” by it, then please, by all means, ignore my posts. Why do you feel the need to obliquely address what you think it is I am doing as part of a futile attempt to temper my language? Just ignore me.

Hey do I know you?? And seriously, its not good to publicize others name…

Well this is about ivy league, and for these colleges there is no specific “school” they prefer! Make your applications powerful people, then these colleges are just a step away.
Anyways anyone UPenn for ED?

Lets stop erupting pointless arguments  !
