IVY League Applicants from Nepal - Class of 2018

Hello Everyone,

I created this thread so that we could discussion more on IVY League College.
Have fun and let's enjoy discussions.

I don’t think you’ll find anyone here who is intending to apply to Ivy. But add me to the list…

hello ameetbh123… where are u from?? I mean the school??? SAT done??

Lets not disclose college name here  Ya SAT I took once but not so good score. Taking the test again on October. SAT II on November. Hoping for better.

Wbu?

SAT I Oct SAT II November. A-levels. Targets?? I mean the Ivy League Colleges.

Plus 2 it is. I regret not taking A-levels. Targets meaning SAT targets or colleges?
I think its better we keep our colleges confidential as suggests the name itself. Now you know I am applying to some Ivy leagues, maybe all, but you’ll get to know other colleges only after I get accepted. :D

okei … tc and best of luck buddy!

Don’t regret … +2 is great. Most of the students getting into bigger universities like Harvard, MIT, Princeton are from +2 … You only should know how to apply really nicely with great supplements.

Was it so good taking A-levels instead of +2 ? I doubt it,leaving aside the course burden thing.
I did A levels myself but I don’t really think doing +2 would have been any bad unless the parents compelling to take MBBS /Engineering entrance tests here in Nepal.

do you guys know how many students get admitted into Ivies+Stanford&MIT from Nepal
for example in India( though colleges say they don’t have quotas) it is 5-20 per year( including U.S citizens and as most Ivies have equal gender representation so take that into account as well)
For example:
MIT takes in 4 indians
and Cornell takes in about 15
this will help greatly with “context” or whatever it is that colleges say.

There is no quota, except at Cornell that has specific TATA scholarships for Indians. Those who get in from India at those other top schools are exceptional in the application pool, such as International Science Olympiad winners, not just the best applicants from India.

If you’re qualified and stand out, you will get in. If no qualified applicant applies, nobody will get in from Nepal. Simple as that. Neither Yale nor Princeton took anyone from Nepal for Class of 2017, for example, simply because nobody was exceptional enough. Context is for individual applicants, not a country. Top colleges do not have to always take a Nepali applicant to fulfill some diversity requirements in the campus - an exceptional student from Malawi will be enough for them to fulfill such requirements too and will always be given precedence over the finest applicant from Nepal who does not necessarily stand out in the pool.

As the title states

I am …bump

I did A levels.
Can anyone tell me the significant difference ,if there is any of doing A levels or +2 while applying to US colleges?

No difference as such to give a chance to one candidate who did A levels over other who did +2 or vice versa. However, generalization as it may seem, but most A levels students seem better prepared than +2 students as far as College Application is concerned.

I am applying to only one ivy leauge, Princeton

I think I know u … u are from SXC right?? The one who is always available st USEF Library :D

You are wrong, don’t you know how many students get into big universities from BNKS (A Levels/IB at Pesta)?

SXC ko topper haina timi?

@NepaliBadaar: Can u plz make us clear what u want to say? #18
