Hi guys,

Ever since I was in my mother's womb, I have already dreamed of getting in an Ivy League because I believe that getting in one of these prestigious schools offers excellent education and a lot of wonderful opportunities in life.

I live in The Philippines and I have been studying in one of the best schools here in my country, the Ateneo de Manila University, from prep to present(freshman year).
However, as I stated, I am still in my freshman year(just started, about 1 month) and I still have limited knowledge, considering the fact that my school's grade school only has up to the seventh grade then it's high school afterwards, so I haven't taken an SAT or ACT or something like that because my sister said that those tests include Trigonometry, Calculus, Geometry(correct me if I'm wrong) and I have just taken Algebra for grade seven and still taking it up for freshman year, I also believe and I know the basics of Geometry since some of our topics in the grade school involved shapes, spaces, getting the area and volume, etc.

I know that getting in an Ivy is somehow Herculean for most people, and I know that I am running out of time to accomplish requirements for an Ivy.

Here's some info about me, things that I'm currently doing/accomplishments(that I think are worth saying):

-I have been playing golf for 4 years now, and during the fifth grade-sixth grade I won a number of tournaments. However, when I entered the seventh grade, I kind of lost interest since I became good friends with a person who plays a lot of soccer. For now, I haven't been competitive in both sports since soccer is somehow hindering me from playing golf and I am still not varsity-material for soccer(although I think I'm almost there :D).

-I have maintained a GPA of 93%(my school doesn't use letter marks or those 4.0, 3.5 things back in the grade school, but high school uses letter marks) in grade school.

-For high school, I can say that I am doing great in subjects like math, science(both my favorite subjects), Religion, English, etc. except for two subjects(which I believe colleges in the US wouldn't mind, CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG), Filipino(our own language in the Philippines, in which I really have a hard time on) and Araling Panlipunan(something like history of the Philippines, and somehow like social studies). However, our 1st term/grading period isn't done yet, and we only have had 1-3 quizzes/long tests on the subjects I am not doing great at, so I can still improve.

-One of the reasons why Ateneo is one of the best schools here is because there are programs/activities that lets the students learn important lessons in life, like simplicity, teamwork, and the like. I have participated in these following activities:

-I am a member of the golf org(yes, I am gaining interest once more) in the High School and hopefully the Futsal varsity team(gonna tryout).

I HAVE NOT taken APs, but I am planning to.

So these are probably the things that are worth saying about my life. Please tell me the things that I could do that would help me get in an Ivy. Please also tell me when I should take an ACT/SAT(sophomore, junior, senior).

Please and Thank you.

I have received Second Honors(GPA of 90-94 with no subject lower than 87 and no letter mark lower than B) a number of times in the grade school and Subject Excellence Awards(a grade of 95 in a subject) a number of times, mostly in Math,CLE(religion, Christianity) and Science but I received some in Music, Art, Araling Panlipunan(subject only in our country, like the Philippines history and somehow like social studies), Filipino(MIRACLE), and English.

ANYONE??? pleaseee

You can take the SATs whenever you want, sometimes people take them in 8th or 9th grade to see how they do, and work on what they did poorly in. However, most people take the ACT and SAT in the 11th grade. I can’t tell you how to get into Ivies because they are so unpredictable, however, I would suggest that you take the hardest classes you can, along with as many ecs that you can balance. Be involved in clubs that you are interested in. If you know what you want to major in, get involved in clubs that reflect that. Take AP classes that you think will be interesting. For example, if you want to be a doctor, take several science classes and maybe volunteer at your local hospital. From what I can comprehend, it helps when you know what you want to do in life so you can begin to get involved with that career and demonstrate that to colleges. Remember, if you truly want to go to an Ivy school, you will have to be motivated. I advise that you don’t set your hopes on an Ivy school if you are only doing so for the name. Make sure it is something you are truly willing to work for. With that, I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully that helped:)

Alot of it is self motivation, when it comes to AP and ACT scores.
I foudn teh ACT easier- on my first try I got a 32, I mgiht take it again.
the SAT, for me, was way rougher though- I’d prefer to not relive that memory.

I highly suggest that since you are so self-motivated, DO NOT pay 23526$$$$ of dollars on SAT/ACT Prep. I have friends who have spent a fortune on those, and we all still performed around teh same category , they ranged from 30-34.

Find your one passion and develop/ cultivate it. dont’ be a cookie cutter clone. I’m heavily into neuroscience, so I’v ventured off and looked into many neuroscience related things.
