Well, I've caught whiff of several Ivy league stereotypes (ie Princeton is the preppy school, Brown is the hippie school, etc.... sorry if either of these was blatantly false).

What are the stereotypes for Cornell?

What are the stereotypes for Cornell?

err...wrong forum kid...this Yale forum...

Cornell is the school in bufu

the stereotype for cornell is that it is the ivy for people who couldn't get into a better school but still want to say they go to an ivy. they bear the cold and grim campus b/c its an ivy. i think there is some truth to this, i am curious how many applications cornell would get if it wasn't an ivy.

the stereotype for yale is that it has a ton of gay students and the student population is not very attractive. people also rag on yale because they say the campus is a dump.

hahaha campus is a dump. that was a good laugh.

Yale is the Gay Ivy.
Yale men are attractive (see above), Yale women are not (although Yale girls were recently voted hot by SI, I think)

Wonder why our RoboCup team's won maximum number of RoboCup titles in history or why our SAE team's been winning 9yrs staright. Wonder why our Engineering kicks Yale engineering's ass. Wonder why our work-loads waaaayyyyy more than yours. Wonder why our Engineers have almost twice the median salary as your engineers. Wonder how someone as stupid as Bush got accepted at your place.

and while i'm in this dumb forum...

CORNELL ROCKS!!!
YALE SUCKS!!!

Well, that's nice school spirit, but it still won't change the world's perception of Cornell.

ASP, newedition was merely pointing out the public's perception of Yale, which I don't think was his own opinion. In fact, he's going to Penn, so he would have no reason to trumpet Yale over Cornell. No need to get defensive about Cornell and attack Yale, we all know Cornell's a great school.

ASP, Cornell's rank is the 2nd lowest ranked ivy...its ranked 13 while yale ranks 3rd. It ranks below non ivies, Duke, Caltech, MIT, WUSTL, and Northwestern...

And yeah, yale adcoms mighta been stupid to accept bush, but cornell's far more retarded to have accepted you.

Ask anybody in the world if Yale is worse than cornell. With an ounce of intelligence, it's obvious that Yale>cornell

The reason Cornell figures below Yale in these rankings is because of its tremendously large class size which => greater acceptance rate. I mean, with over 250 courser on offer, thats much more that Yale.
The class size is 3 times Yales, but this year's overall acceptance rate was 21%, and RD was 18.9%...which is good considering the class size.
If one goes qualitatively, Cornell's engineering, sciences and hotel management >>> Yale's.
While Yale's good for humanities, Cornell beats it hands down in the sciences. Thats a fact which you can't change.
Lastly, among the Iby League places for engineering,
Cornell>>>>>Princeton>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The rest
^If you deny that, wonder how you got through Yale.

And sadly, thats your own statement...cuz before i EDed Cornell...i posted on this very Forum, as to which ivies engineering's strongest, and the unanimous answer was,"Cornell" :p

I'd like a non-smoking room with a view if you can manage that,..

Cornell actually admitted 24.7% of its students this time around. And beating the other Iby Leagues [sic] in engineering really isn't much of an accomplishment.

1) 21% is the stat posted in Cornell's own Classof2010 website.

2) I'm majoring in engineering, so i guess that's all that matters to me.

3) We also do beat you in Hotel mamagement, Applied Physics and most of the other sciences. Cornell is better than Yale at science.

4) Lets also compare what each univs done in the last few months. Cornell's found a cure Alzheimers, won yet another SAE, built an UAV, developed a system for tracing mines for Cambodia...and much more that ive not heard of and those r only the scientific ones.. As good Yale is for humanities, Cornell's better for science.

5) Everyone whom ive talked to say of the cut-throat competition at Cornell...and how everyone's more brainier than kids at the other ivies.

6) Here's a small fact that's as true as the fact that Hans Bethe worked at Cornell: A Cornell engineer builds his own computer...a Yalie, well asks his dad to buy him. Cmmn, Yale's a spoilt brat's heaven...which is why an Idiot like Bush chose Yale...while someone smarter like Chelsea Clinton chose Stanford.

"more brainier," huh? believe it or not, many even more brainier kids don't even apply to cornell, and most students who are admitted to cornell go somewhere else (53% or of them, in fact). i'm done taking you seriously, and i'm sure a ton of others were a while ago.

this guy ASP is a stigma on desis like me...i feel sad that he's gonna make a bad name for us people by coming up with garbage. lets ignore this fool...

Hey hey, it was a supposed to be a fun thread mocking sterotypes. Lose the flame war.

Well, first off, you assert that Chelsea Clinton is smarter than Bush. Then you point out that she went to Stanford.

Notice that she didn't pick Cornell? All you've shown is that Stanford > Cornell.

My post was telling what I thought the stereotypes of Yale and Cornell were. key word stereotypes. I would never actually judge those schools on it and wasn't trying to get into an argument or anything.

Also, I should have worded it that people rag on "new haven" for being a dump, not the actual on campus buildings, which are beautiful. When I was applying I was kind of turned off my the surrounding area of new haven, there isn't much to do there, it just didnt suit my personal preference.

hmmm...so you guys are just pick some random points...and avoid the key point i'[m making: Cornell>Yale for Science. Period.
Noone seems to argue on that. So i take that you people agree.
PS: seriously, u guys need a crash course in debating...taking up some random point...avoiding the key issue...if thats the quality of students at Yale...well...its darn sad. :p
