Umm...but who cares? I mean there are so many comparisons one can make...GAtech Engg > Cornell engg, UIUC Civil engg > Cornell's, the list can go on forever. There is no doubt though, that as a university as a whole Yale>Cornell thousand times over.

I as student, am concerned only with the Science faculty and department. Its my major and future career.
As a university, Yes...Yale is indeed very good. All i'm trying to say is the first reply to this post was that people choose Cornell ONLY bec its Ivy. That is a negative. The engineering here is numero uno. The science here, too, is on whole extremely good. And people do choose Cornell over Yale when it comes to science and engineering. Why you don't see Bill Nye visiting Yale...he visits Cornell.

I do not wish to denegrade Yale in any way...all i wish to say say is Cornell does beat you hands down in Science , which I repeat is all i'm defending. I respect the humanities and other departments at Yale, and had I been interested in the same, would have most certainly chosen it over Cornell. But as i see it Cornell's forte is science and it is one of the best in it.

Bill Nye!! !HAHAHAHA....lol arjun..

Georgia Tech beats cornell at Sciences and engg so HA!

so according to your own logic that makes GAtech > Yale, eh?

callthecops2,
1) Ur not a Yale admit...u were on the contrary rejected by every Ivy. Please stop acting as if you know it all.

2) Now i'm pretty sure u'll start sayin how Warwick's better than Cornell...so shut the gob...ive said it for u.

3) Go to Warwick...be happy...now let some Yalie reply to my post. Its just meant to be4 an intellectual discussion.

4) Knowing the dumb person u are...u havn'e even heard of Bill Nye...now u'll do a wikipedia dearch and act as if ur his grand-dad. So shut-up on that too

Look this is getting personal. lets stick with the general things.

but to clarify, I got rejected at 4 ivies....so when have there been only 4 ivies? I thought there were 8. Oh sorry, I forgot you didnt know how to count.

Rejections from Cornell and brown which are ranked lower than Northwestern, and rejections from Wharton and Yale which are ranked above really dont affect me. Northwestern Econ all the way :) but of course, Wharton and Yale outdo NU in that dept, so im not a dick to say NU is beginning and end of the universe.

GAtech > Yale

Arjun's point is that Cornell's better than Yale in the sciences and engineering. GaTech>Cornell in engineering according to rankings. So if you take the rankings into account, GaTech>Yale in Engineering.

ok...u got rejected by all ivies u applied to...happy?
i have better stuff to do than count how many schools Surya has applied to. but u still did get rjected...and that doesn't change one bit :p

ok...does anyone have any argument to counter the fact that Cornell > Yale in science (apart from Surya)

U are right biaxident, it all depends on the major, but there is something called an overall standard...there's no pt in ranking if Gateway community college is better than Yale, just because maybe gateway CC has a better knitting class.

are u drunk??? what kinda reply is that! Biaxident was sayin the arguments Yale vs Cornell...from where did GaTech com??? dude...learn to read.
ok...u obviously have no idea of both places i can gather...and r just spoiling the discussion.

Wanna beer arjun?

And with love to the Yale board....

from our very own Arjun Shankar Prakash...

wow!!! thats the best you could come up with...shows how dumb you are. Well...duh!...i hate Yale cuz it sux at my major...so?

I asked a question my dear friend, DO YOU WANT A BEER?

Fact is that most people consider Yale better than Cornell. I havnt been to or studied at either place, so I have no right to comment. But gathering from the rankings, Cornell's better for engineering, and that's all I care about for now.
Also, my friend who got into Yale engineering says that they've recently invested a **** load of money into the department, so Yale engineering could turn out to be great soon.

point:
[ul]
[]Cornell Engineering Better...way better...so i don't care.
[]Cornell Science Better...way better...so i again don't care.
[/ul]

whatever really. Comprehensively yale is still better. Wahtever

whatever...i made my point...Cornell's better at science...thats all i care...whatever. :p

k...now let's put this argument to an end...
had it not been for some silly statement at beggining, i wouldn't have even posted here.
Let's just agree that both r good places havin their own fortes.
Cheers and congrats to all ye Yalies

Arjun, please stop embarrassing us Cornellians with your incoherent "Cornell rocks" rhetoric. This thread wasn't created to compare Cornell and Yale academically, it was for the discussion of stereotypes (see broad generalities). Calm down.
