Hello everybody. Can you please tell me what are my chances into need-based american universities especially in ivy league?
I'm international
GPA 4.0
SAT I 2140 ( C.R 670 M 770 W 700)
SAT II will take on January
10% class rank
Many activities
I head it's hard to get in Ivies if you're international and require need-based aid ?

Yale,Harvard, Princeton, and Dartmouth give financial aid to all students, including international students. For the above colleges applying for financial aid won’t decrease your chance of acceptance. For other top schools however, applying for aid will hurt your chances. As for your chances, its hard to tell. Unless of you have something that sets you apart your chances aren’t very high. Best of luck

Does being from a country that doesn’t even have a dozen of students studying in the US set me apart? (I mean in equal circumstances with Chinese and Indians)

I suppose being from an underrepresented country could provide a slight boost. Be mindful, the Ivies are all try different. Columbia is in a city. Harvard isn’t a closed campus. Cornell is in the freezing cold and is very isolated. The environments are very different. You don’t want to go to a school that isn’t a for for you just because it is an Ivy League school. You could end up being very unhappy for the next four years of your life. Be sure to investigate what you want As for your chances, it’s pretty much impossible to give accurate chances because we don’t know your situation in school and at home. Having many activities isn’t necesarily good if the are not activities of substance. Also, your SAT score is on the low side for an international student. It’s going to be really hard to bring it up, but ideally, you would need to bring it up by around 150 points. Numbers aren’t everything, but you need to distinguish yourself because you are competing with the entire world.

It’s hard to get into the ivies if you are an American and don’t require financial aid.

I think that your scores are good, and I’m assuming that if you say ‘many activities’ then they are sufficient. However, you are like every other hopeful unless your ECs are unique or your essays and recs are amazing. However, you are slightly better off than a lot of applicants as you have higher scores Good luck! Are any liberal arts colleges an option for you? There are plenty outside of the Ivy League to consider. Costs for college are way too high these days
