Would a 700 SAT Math score be compensated for if I got an 800 Math Level 2 SAT II for an ivy league? For Wharton?
I know 700 is low, very low for ivy caliber schools and especially for Wharton... but am I still doomed if I get an 800 Math Level II Score?

Any input would be hugely appreciated. Thanks! :)

I’m sort of wondering the same thing. I got a 690 on SAT CR, but on ACT reading, I scored a perfect 36. I sent both scores in. Will they look upon this 690 poorly even though I am applying for engineering?

Well Math level II is definitely more difficult than SAT Reasoning math so I think having an 800 for that will at least somewhat compensate.

For CR, I’m not so sure because ACT reading is usually a lot easier than SAT reading. However because you’re applying to engineering your maths and sciences are probably a lot more important

To evaluate your math abilities, they will probably also look at your transcript. Do you have As in your math classes (Pre-Cal, Calculus)? If you do, that would help.

The rigor of your math classes is gonna make up for it if anything. BTW, it is much less of an accomplishment to score an 800 on SAT Math II than on SAT I Math…because the math subject test curve is so high that getting an 800 on that subject test only puts you in the 90 percentile, while an 800 on the SAT I puts you in the 99%.

^^ Not necessarily. Many high schoolers take the SAT I, while only few take the Math II. The students who take Math II are generally much better at math than those who take Math I, because Math II is much more difficult and covers topics that some high schoolers don’t even cover during their entire high school career. Thus, an 800 on Math II puts you at 90%+ of the more advanced math students, while an 800 on the SAT I math puts you at 99% of all the test takers. From personal experience I would say getting an 800 on Math II is harder as well.

What do you really think?

Thanks everyone! Your help means a lot to me! :)

You have to remember that scores aren’t everything:) I got a high 600’s math II score and a 34 ACT math score, and I was accepted to Wharton. Even though good scores are obviously helpful, and a low one may hurt, you can always compensate with other things (such as an 800 on SAT math). Good luck!

I got a 680 on Math II and a 700 on Math I and was admitted to Wharton ED. I am white. I think they can be compensated by something else. I really shined on my essays and I am also taking AP Calculus.

Thanks everyone!!! Your help is excellent!!! :)
