I believe just finalists. I’m not sure if non-finalists are even notified? I would assume so but I never got to find out how exactly that works
Okay, thank you Courtney.
I just have to stop by here and congratulate you all!
And also say that two students from my community college won the award <3 <3 I’m so happy for them! I personally work alongside one of them, and she was sooooo happy today, everyone was congratulating her.
if my college representative claims that he haven’t heard anything so far, should I understand that I just didn’t win it? Have the foundation already decided on ALL the finalists? I ask this because they mentioned once on a phone call that they usually are deciding on the winners up to the last day.
Yo dudes I got it! My college began scheduling random events and inviting me so I began to deduce that it was for JKC, but nonetheless, it was an awesome surprise when they announced it to me! Good luck to you guys, remember that you still may not receive an acceptance until the end of this month!
Congratulations Ciencia!!!
Congratulations to all of the announced finalists! After so many months of waiting, finally knowing the answer must be such a relief. I still haven’t heard anything, but I’m hoping to receive an email by tomorrow (I’ve heard whispers that the foundation will contact everyone by then, regardless of their final status).
Still nothing on my end, unfortunately. I’m not too worried that I haven’t been contacted by my school yet. I’m a recent graduate and don’t take any classes at the community college where I first applied for the scholarship, so a surprise announcement is unlikely. I’m not sure if my school even has a dedicated JKC staff person; I handled almost everything myself, except for the letters of recommendation. So if I do win, I may only find out through the foundation’s email. No matter what the outcome is, making it this far as a semi-finalist has been an honor and I’m excited to continue my academic journey!
A word for those receiving the rejection letters soon: I am sorry. You applied. You waited. You achieved semifinalist status (or not), and now come a sign of relief when all the finalists are being announced. Full-ride scholarships are hard to get as a CC grad. If you ask me about why you have not heard anything, you are ALL winners in my eyes no matter what. Just move on to achieve great things. Don’t give up!
CONGRATS to the rejected and unrejected!!! Cheers!
Hi transfer scholars, I have a quick question for y’all. Does it say “scholar information” in the account section of your online JKCF account?
A couple of the schools I’ve been accepted to have been calling me over the last few days and not leaving voicemails. Maybe they’ve been calling to tell me my JKC status?
Something changed this year. The foundation only selected 55 winners. I do not know names.
This is heartbreaking. That is a very significant drop from last year. That is a 27% drop from last year.
It really is. Please remember, if you aren’t selected, it’s not a personal thing. I am not sure why JKCF only chose 55 this year. Sometimes they choose more than they said in given years, and I guess sometimes they choose less.
Good luck all <3
Thanks for the help Courtney
did you hear anything more about when they are going to officially let the applicants know, Courtney?
Not applicants themselves. I just know that notifications have or are currently going out to the CCs.
I thought 55-60 winners was standard? I seem to remember reading that in a press release, at least.
I still haven’t heard anything. I sent an email to my CC today asking if they had been contacted, which should give me a clearer idea about my final status until the foundation sends their emails out.
I haven’t heard anything either, but our cc is closed today because its Good Friday.
Yeah I received an announcement at my school about me receiving it but have not received an email from the foundation themselves yet. When I called the foundation I was told notifications would be sent at the end of the month by JKC
I’ll have to wait until Monday to hear back from my college; everything is closed down until after Easter. I have a sinking suspicion that I would’ve heard something by now if I am a finalist, but I suppose it’s possible that they’ve had difficulties contacting me because I am a recent graduate. It’s not as if I can be surprised in a classroom. It also seems as if the foundation has made all of its decisions and is no longer evaluating applications given that the final number of finalists has been released. If that’s the case, I have a feeling that the people who haven’t heard from their schools yet were not selected and will simply receive a formal notice at the end of the month. Alternatively, perhaps they were making final decisions up until today and won’t contact the rest of the colleges with finalists until Monday.
Oh well. Foolish or not, I choose to remain hopeful until the bitter end. We’ll find out on Monday!
