@room4more I am so sorry about Univ. Wisconsin- Madison. I feel like sometimes application processor at big university (because they have a lot of applications) mess-up putting all the documents together in the applicant’s file. For example, Washington University St. Louis receives so many transfer application every year that they have more that 10 application processor divided by the first letter of last name of the applicant. But still they messed up my application but it got cleared after i emailed my processor about it. I suggest you to email the admission department explaining your case with the application fee receipts and all. I bet they will figure something out and most probably the outcome will be in your favour as you submitted your documents on time.
I think your closed application of UW- Madison is not going to look bad to JKC because-
Last time, I called JKCF like 3 days ago and asked them if I can submit an additional document for the application. The lady told me that I am welcome to send anything but it’s really not going to make any changes in the application. The conversation sounded like the results are already made for Transfer Scholarship. So, if UW-Madison closed you application last week. Then, it’s really not going to matter.
JKC may or may have contacted your interested or target universities after you got selected as semifinalist to know if you are on track to complete the application. As you stated that you submitted your application on-time. That means JKC people maybe just know that you submitted the application to UW-Madison and I bet they know that transcripts and other documents are not in-control of applicants. That’s why most of the universities accepts late transcripts and LORs.
Good Luck for UT Austin. I hope you get to meet that professor.
I was so anxious and nervous that I never came to the forum back to see what’s happening. Hopefully we all will end up at our dream schools with our financial part covered. Happy Easter!
@room4more I’m so sorry to hear that. One of my good friends just got the same news from Madison today as well. Good news is, at this point I am sure JKC has already made their decisions (since it is so close to the announcement) They probably will not find out that your app to Wisconsin was closed, so I wouldn’t worry too much of that effecting your JKC decision.
By the way, UT Austin is an incredible back up plan!
Nothing is confirmed until an e-mail says so but it’s safe to say that they might notify our college’s representatives this coming week. I’m not sure how that works- someone told me that the Foundation calls them and either says “Congratulations! You have [so and so] winners from you college?” or maybe in a more practical sense, just sends every college a list of winners.
Unfortunately my first decision wasn’t positive, but the school (Pomona) only accepted around 15 students, and is pretty competitive. I’m still very hopeful about hearing good news in May!
@room4more I can reaaally confidently say that what happened with UW will not affect your scholarship decision at all. Plans change, things happen. A lot of my colleagues didn’t even apply to the schools they listed in their top 3 on the original application :))
And so comes April like a lion, or was it March? Lol. In this frightening yet exciting times, I wish you the best of lucks. I can’t wait to hear your future accomplishments; maybe we end up at the same university. Per Aspera Ad Astra, folks!
@“TexasRosé_” Thank you! It was one of my top choices so I’m super duper happy! I also feel compelled to share due to your icon that I got to see Hamilton yesterday in my city, and it was the most jaw-dropping, amazing thing ever! So many of the cast sounded like the OG ones too, so it was doubly exciting. Gotta also keep up with Hamilton’s work ethic of writing fifty-one essays in sixth months
I can’t believe how much time has flown since this thread was first made! Good luck to everyone; reading this thread obsessively every week has really been a journey lol
Also, just out of curiosity, what are the general age ranges of you all? One aspect I love about community college is the sheer diversity in age, and I would love to see that reflected in the chosen scholars as well!
@poppypup OMG Yes!! It really is! I waited 2 years and finally got to see it last fall in Chicago! I was worried it wouldn’t be as great seeing live since I’ve worn the soundtrack out overtime, but nope! Still amazing.
@poppypup I’m in my early 20’s, around the age that students graduate from college “traditionally”.
I can’t wait to say congratulations to someone on here <3 hahahah
@poppypup I am in my early 20’s. @room4more I have a classmate who is 57 in my calculus III class. It’s just so inspiring and awesome to see you’ll coming back to school at this age and accomplishing good things. I am very excited for you.
Hi everyone, I’m new on here but I’ve been a silent observer since the thread was created. Thanks @AGoodFloridian for creating this thread. I’m rooting for all of us as we wait to hear from the JCKF and the various colleges we applied to!!! To answer your question @poppypup I just turned 18 not too long ago.
Also anyone here from Houston, TX??
I know I’m being ridiculous, BUT, when I logged into my JKCF portal last week, it had a message saying that semifinalist notifications were sent out November 30th. But now its gone. Does anyones’ portal show anything new or good? Sorry, fam, IM REALLY ANXIOUS!
I’m sure it’s just the site updating. I don’t expect any major changes in the webpage’s code until after the finalists have been notified. Also, 21 later this month FL>UCSC History major, cheers everyone
Anyone else fighting the urge to call JKC to try to get a better estimate on when we will be notified? lol. I will hold off the urge to bother them… we are just so close!! :))
@“TexasRosé_” IM FIGHTING IT!! But only because I feel that even if I do call, they will just tell me that they are going to notify finalists in April.
I called the foundation and the lady said that you just email the foundation. And they will update you with the result. I am kinda confused. Because I thought they will release results through schools.
