So… let me tell you about my day. I was in class and checked my email (during break.) There was a PTK chapter newsletter and in it, it stated that this girl won and it was very formal. Now… I was confused at first too, maybe they had meant semi-finalists, however both myself and another person are members of PTK and are also semi-finalists and we were not listed. So I became happy for her and a little sad because I thought that meant I was not a winner. Of course… of all days to do this, I left my cell phone at home! I thought maybe my advisor tried to contact me too, but couldn’t reach me, I was trying not to loose hope. I saw a friend on my way to the next class and told her about the winner for JCK and she told me she saw the student talking with the adviser earlier that day. So it seemed pretty safe to assume that all was true.
I get to class and see my friend and she says NOTHING. The whole class period I am wondering if she just doesn’t want to make me feel bad because she won and I did not, how am I going to pay for college, geez she doesn’t even seem that excited… it was the worst 2 hours of my life. After class I say “so… you won?!” and she just looks at me like I am bananas. She said no, she checked her email this morning and had heard nothing from the scholarship committee. I responded, so wait, did our advisor not tell you that you won today? I have her check her go online and check the PTK newsletter. Of course now she is excited. She texts the chapter president to find out if they were told and meant to surprise her or what was happening. We decided to walk over and see our advisor. I say “Hey have you heard anything??” and he looks at me like I am bananas! He says no. So then we show him the newsletter and he is just as confused.
So it turns out someone from the chapter was asked to write a newsletter and they honestly just messed up. It was a big mess up in terms that this girl got very excited thinking she got the scholarship and could afford to go to Georgetown, I was affected because I had mental images of my dream college sailing away, and I told all of you so I think I might have given a handful of people anxiety attacks today. Sorry for the boards longest post, I felt I needed to explain what happened in more words than just “it was a mistake.” It made for an emotional roller coaster of a day. And there is a PTK member who had a serious talking to by the PTK faculty advisor… 
would not want to be him right now.
So, like I said earlier, and like the foundation told me, no one has been notified thus far. Hopefully later this week or next week we hear something!
@muffinpoptarte, that’s a cruddy day. Good thing there are only 3 hours left in today. Then we can all start new tomorrow! Thanks for the explanation. Now it’s back to the waiting game!
Ok so next week, yay. They can’t possibly push it further right?? Right? RIGHT?! The end is coming ??? I can’t believe we all speculated about dates and were probably going to wait til May 1st or something bwahah
I agree with you @RlyOwl I have hopes that at least someone will hear by Friday - well I hope so
I just hope they forego any traditional method of communication and just send out a mass email to all the winners. That would eliminate a lot of the skepticism and it WOULD REALLY HELP ME MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE!!!
I swear… If you want to be tortured… This is how you do it! Between this and admissions, I’m going literally insane. Luckily Berkeley and UCLA aren’t until the 29th. But still haven’t heard from UCSC or UCSD and all I’ve gotten into is my last choice, UCI.
Well the future leaders of America must surely know how to endure the harsh stresses of life. What better way to kick off our future! If we can handle this we can handle anything! I really cannot imagine anything else (academic related) causing this much stress (knocking on wood)

@astrojess I’ve heard it can be reasonable because they understand that it’s mostly older people with jobs that are completing the courses. It is definitely not easy but THIS?? THISS?? THISSSSSS??..
