I don’t think many people read my post. Just relax guys! I trust the person I talked to at the foundation. I am not really sure about the call center people. The earliest the notifications will go out is by the end of this week. But my source predicted that most people will have to wait until next week to find out. So worst case scenario is Friday of next week. Concentrate on acing your final exams and projects!
I just recieved word from a VERY unreliable source (not me) that due to the high volume of incoming calls to the JKCF reps regarding the “repetitively repetitive nature of questioning of everything we already answered about the transfer scholarship,” we (the scholars) are to be punished by “silent treatment” up until the very last second before the announcements are made. There are rumors that nuns and monks, whom all have recently taken lifelong vows of silence, have been purposely added to the roster of the JCKF Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. In case of emergencies (I.e. scholars with chronic callers syndrone), each rep has been given a plastic Walmart bag and a mini fan, in which they have been instructed to ruffle the bag vigorously while shouting inaudibly “… end of… month of…” and "soon… two weeks [static].
What?
I know nothing about the process, and I said I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I’m sticking with May 1 - but the prior scholar who wrote to us made the most sense to me. Earliest Friday or next week.
Some schools (like mine) are on spring break right now and they might think it’s unfair to release the information without the school having the chance to celebrate. I know my school had 3 scholars last year - which is a big number in my humble opinion.
As far as end of May. Don’t believe it at all. There’s absolutely no rhyme or reason or justification for it considering we are basing our school choices on it - would be quite wrong of them actually. I doubt they would make us wait that long.
In the end I am trying to harbor my resentment of having to wait so long, and remember, they owe no one nothing, and that it’s an amazing thing that there’s a foundation that does this for us. None of our eggs should be in this one basket (although it feels like that to me sometimes). I’m just breathing and taking the next right action - reading, meditating, reaching out to friends and creating a fall back plan. I know everything will be ok regardless. And sometimes more financial adversity makes us fight harder for what we want even though it feels like absolute hell.
Thanks to all prior scholars that have been there with us so far, it actually really does help with the doubts and anxiety, and I appreciate it.

I agree with @RlyOwl … it’ll happen when it happens. In the meantime, lets enjoy this brief limbo of pain and peace.
Did anyone else just receive an email from Jack Kent Cooke for their updated transcript and school choice…?
@jakobe2020 Yes.
Just received an email from JKCF asking for an updated transcript (not necessarily official) and school of choice where I have accepted.
And the due date for all this information is May 2, 2016. So it is expected that they cannot make any decision before Mid May at all.
I just recived a request for my transcript. The due date for the transcript is on the 2nd of May which means that we will probably hear back in the second week of May.
Interesting! I haven’t received this e-mail. Could someone post the verbiage?
Yeah me too. sigh
Deadline is May 2nd, which leads me to believe mid may is not too farfetched for a decision…
Guess this is it guys… a decision is coming soon. @jakobe2020 @aritransfer16
@Jouuuu Here is the email: BTW did you get the email requesting the financial information email sent by JKCF on March 8, 2016? Just curious because, I received that email too.
"We write to update you on the selection process for the 2016 Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship and to collect updated information. If you were enrolled during the fall 2015 semester, please respond to this email with an attachment (PDF preferred) of your most recent community college transcript. It does not need to be an official copy.
Also, respond with the names of the colleges that you’ve been accepted to and indicate your top choice institution. Please note: students who have already transferred to a four-year institution are not eligible for this scholarship.
Both items are due to the foundation by Monday, May 2. We hope to notify all applicants of the award decisions in early May."
@sat4498 Thanks!
Nope, I didn’t get that e-mail either… Hmm…
If you don’t mind me asking, did you write down what schools you were applying to in the original application? And if so, when do you have to make the decisions by?
All my schools won’t give me their answer until May 1st or Late May/Early June. This is interesting. Anyone else not get it?
Some people have gotten this. Some have not. Let’s theorize.
I received this email. My GPA when I applied was barely over the minimum requirement. Maybe they’re making sure some of us didn’t dip below 3.5?
@LitMajor1107 I applied with a 4.0 and I received the email as well.
My theory is that they are trying to weed out some people that have just applied but didn’t attend college in the fall2015.
Just to make the people happy who got this new email. The people on the college scholarship received this as well. The ones who received this email were chosen
This is fun, LOL.
As someone that did not get the e-mail:
- I didn't receive a request for financial forms earlier (my finances are pretty straight forward and I made sure to explain it in detail in my application).
- My GPA is 3.9 and my coursework is pretty very straight forward (I don't have too little or too many credits).
- The schools that I listed won't give me their decisions into late May/early June.
With that being said, I guess we can all throw away our dream of this Friday being judgement day?
@jakobe2020 I was thinking about that! That’s probably what’s going on.
@Jouuuu I have not heard from many colleges including my top choice college. I just indicated where I have been accepted to so far.
@Matsilinen then what about those who did not receive this email?
