@DanyAG Do we have to fill those out now? Or are they only for winners?
@sdudasik Only for recipients.
Vent to everyone: in the past twenty four hours, I have been turned down from two highly competitive schools, one of which works closely with JKCF and one of which is very need aware. This comes after a rejection from another top, need aware school in March and a rejection from a small LAC that is need aware in April. I really do believe that having the scholarship would have been a gamechanger in admissions (and it is not as if they can re-review it - policy), but even if I receive it, which I wonāt, it will come far too late for mos of the programs I would have loved to get into, including one of my top, top choice schools.
That isnāt anger, per se - I trust that everyone is working as hard as they can, and because I expect a rejection anyways the point is moot, but I am still having a moment of grief and frustration.
@ForestryGuy Iām feeling pretty confident that may, week 2, is The Week.
Good luck with NAU! I just got accepted into Barrett at ASU and already feel at home here.
@aritransfer16 Not to cross any boundaries and hope this doesnāt come out wrong but most of the time, rejections are blessings in disguise. Of course, we donāt see it like that first. Weāre frustrated, not necessarily angry or full of hatred, but definitely wish it wasnāt the outcome. Coming from someone who was rejected by EVERY school/college I applied to the first time aroundā¦ even a āsafetyā schoolā¦ it was definitely heartbreaking for me. The thing is, life has a way of working out at the end. From what Iāve seen, I can speak on the majority of people here that we have flourished despite our circumstances. Keep your head held up high and look forward to your future. And remember āLife isnāt about the destiny, itās about the journey.ā Itās what you make of it >:D<
@Quietlybear are you in AZ too!?
Thank you both!! @ForestryGuy @aritransfer16
@ForestryGuy My records indicate that you might owe @Quietlybear a dinner?
@Matsilinen if @Quietlybear and I both happen to be in Virginia in early August then I will most definitely pay up on that bet too.
@ForestryGuy I knew you were a man of your words. Letās hope all of us will be inVirgina in August!!
Weāre almost to 1000 everyone, we can do this before the announcement!
@ForestryGuy well considering this scholarship may just be a myth and a legend of oldā¦ We could get to 2000 maybe even 3000
Once we start hearing from JKCF next week, this thread will definitely go over 1500.
Manā¦ I REALLY hope this is the week. :-<
@midia You are not overstepping at all. Thank you for your kind words - and youāre correct, āfrustrationā is exactly the right word. Right now, Iām focusing on the fact that I have been accepted to some places where I know I could be happy, as well as the assurance that I was able to accomplish quite a bit at my community college - which had less resources academically than most all four years, as I am sure was true for many of you - so that I will find a way to thrive regardless as to where I land.
@ForestryGuy Should we put this on our CVs? āReached 1000 posts on JKCF UT Scholar Applicant board. Required extra-human levels of anxiety and obsessiveness.ā
@Matsilinen Indeed. All the feelings.
@LostUber I am pretty confident that it will be. My personal bet is on Tuesday, though Monday would be a nice surprise
Just out of curiosity, anyone from Texas here?
@Matsilinen Alas, I am not from Texas. But because I would be curious if folks feel comfortable sharing, I might as well share: at various points, I have been from New York, Mass., and Illinois.
@ everyone else, I just wanted to send my thoughts and care to anyone who today is hard for. I know we all come from different backgrounds and some of us have moved through a lot, so if your story includes a complicated relationship with mother(s) or parent(s) more broadly, including loss, I just wanted to let you know that I see you and know it sucks, you have every right to feel and be whatever makes sense today (either that be angry or celebratory), and youāre not alone.
@aritransfer16 that was really deep! To be honest I never expected to read what you wrote in a forum like this. While some people find today joyous, as for itās celebratory nature and for others it is somewhat challenging. Thank you for saying the things you said!!
Good luck this week my friends!! Letās see some scholarsā¦ Itās time!!
This just happened yesterday:
Mom: So, where are you going to transfer to?
Me: ā¦ I donāt know
Mom: ā¦ What do you mean you donāt know?
Me: Well I havenāt heard from all of them yet. I want to make the right decision
Mom: but, donāt you need to tell them youāre going before a certain date?
Me: Yep.
Mom: Soā¦ Okay. Well, how are you going to pay for school?
Me: ā¦
