@RlyOwl thank you! I really happy to hear the news but at the same time I feel bad that I am the first one, I understand how stressful this can be and I just hope I didn’t make anyone feel even more stressed out. And I am in Texas.

@Matsilinen Contrary to causing more stress, you have confirmed that the end truly is near - there is no greater relief at the moment. But please celebrate this - either that means relaxing for the day and taking everything in or going out to do something.

As a note to everyone else: I informed you that my adviser said she would be informed tomorrow. I find it odd they would let her know on a weekend, but do not think it is impossible in light of how delayed they are and the requests they have been receiving from desperate applicants. That being said, it is (a) possible she meant Monday or (b) possible she is waiting to surprise one of our other semifinalists who will happen to be seeing the other adviser tomorrow at an award ceremony (for an outside, state-wide, non-PTK scholarship). Both of these are unfounded speculations, but because of the importance of the information I wanted to put it out there just in case so intentional misinformation given to us does not lead to confusion elsewhere.
Knowing my advisers, though, I think both of those situations are unlikely.

Congrats, @Matsilinen! I was notified today, too. They suprised me at graduation. Same story. The JKCF contact at my school received an email at 11am. I am one of two winners at my school.
I am still in complete shock, and trying to figure out how to pay this forward.
Notifications are starting to go out. The worst of it is over. Best of luck to all of you.

Hi all,
Yesterday was a very bad day for me. I missed a flight to San Jose. Waited at the airport for 12 hours on standby without any food or rest but couldn’t get on the plane. Then I came back home which is virtually empty. I slept on the floor and bought ticket again price 3 times higher than the original price. I cursed myself all night for not checking in my luggage using that machine and instead waiting in the line.
Today I woke up with an email from my Jack Kent Cooke advisor. He asked for my phone number ASAP. He is also the ptk advisor at my college and so I thought it had something to do with PTK. But I was also hoping maybe it had something to do with that Jack Kent Cooke scholarship. I sent him my phone number, my husband’s phone number and my Google phone number.
Within a minute, he called me and told me that I am a Jack Kent Cooke scholar. I’m the only scholar at my college this year and he also told me that this hasn’t happened in my college in the last 15 years.
