I recently found out that I have won the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer scholarship and was wondering since this is a very prestigious award should I notify colleges now. Application decisions come out next Wednesday and Friday for UCLA and UC Berkeley, respectively. I was one of 55 transfer students in the nation who won among 3,500 applicants.
Should I tell UCLA and Berkeley or wait and appeal with this new information if I get denied?
I would wait and appeal if needed. It’s new information that’s extremely relevant but I doubt it would help much if you sent an email now. They’ve probably made almost all of their decisions, idk how much this would help. Explaining it all in an appeal letter since it’s new and compelling information would probably be more persuasive. Though that said that’s my 2 cents. Take it with a grain of salt.
Congratulations on winning the scholarship though! That’s amazing! No matter where you go to the JKC scholarship is a fabulous one to have. Good luck for your LA and Cal applications!
It won’t count in an appeal as it is brand new info, not info from last fall that he forgot to put in. But I actually have heard of people with new info this last term that get in (even though it’s counter to their stated policy) so maybe it is better to save it.
Congrats! I’m applying for the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer scholarship, but I do not think that I could get it. Can you share me some experience?
