Um… Lauraepp. You do know that a foundation as prestigious as jack kent cooke will look into your records. It’s one thing to sell yourself but another to blatantly lie. Hopefully you weren’t putting half of that in your application so you still have a chance. A 4.0gpa would put you on the presidents list not the deans list. I’m trying to understand why you would have an engineering award when your declared major is business also. I’m not jelly. Just stating the obvious.

Yeah… I just read it again. Law and psychology club doesn’t add up either. Unless you were taking 10 credit hours a semester and taking deedeedee courses I am not sure how God could have time management skills like that.

I am absolutely aware that they will check all of my records. I cannot believe that you would post something so rude toward a stranger on an forum. EVERYTHING that I said and inputted on my application and on this forum is the truth. I have no reason to lie about myself. I do have a 4.0 GPA, I have no problem posting my transcript totals as my profile picture. I am in Law club, because I originally wanted to go to law school after I earned my Baccalaureate degree. Psi Beta, I was invited to join because of my high GPA, and I liked that the club was active on my campus. I have never heard of the Presidents List, in fact I have never received any letter regarding my being on the deans list, it is listed only on my official transcript. I busted my butt to do everything that I do, and I resent being called a liar. EVERY single thing listed, is what I have done. As far as the gingeneering contest, it was something that I volunteered to do in representing my honors club. Someone had to volunteer from each club, so I did. I have been trying to link my transcript totals, but this forum wont allow it. I can email or text message a picture if you would like.

I just looked the presidents list up, and our college, San Jacinto College, does not have that listed as a possibility. They only offer Dean’s List in the handbook, but I will be asking our coordinator about this when I get to class this evening.

I believe you now. Sorry I was rude. I just wanted to see if you would argue it. Usually liars don’t, or they don’t have a good argument. You’re a much better student than me… ;(

For everyone looking to receive awards for volunteer work I found this http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/tgact/ros/tabs/dspROSTabResources.cfm</a>
This will log all of your volunteer hours and you receive presidential recognition for your work. It would look good for grad school or med school

Lauraepp80… With those credentials, I would be surprised if you are not a scholarship recipient. Impressive.

Thanks college77, I don’t know, I hope so. I have been reading all the boards from the last few years as well as the bio’s of people who have won, and they are incredibly impressive. To see how much some have done makes me feel totally inadequate. Some of the past winners are studying things and solving problems that I have never heard of… It’s tough competition in general.

Clock is ticking! Good luck everyone!

I read on another thread that someone received a call saying that they are a JKCF scholarship recipient on March 13th. Anyone hear anything on here?

I doubt it. I would think they would inform everyone on the same date. You don’t have anything to worry about college77 your stats are better than anyone that’s been on this forum

I think they are going to inform everyone the same day as well. Also we all have really impressive stats… I think the essays are going to weigh in heavily in the decision process.

They said the are going to notify everyone at the end of the month. They have been doing this for a while. I don’t anyone has been notified yet.

you guys, on the site it says that they will notify scholarship recipients early April so yeah,

As far as I’ve heard, they aren’t going to call, someone from your college will let you know if you did get it. If you didn’t get it, you will receive an email. They said end of March to mid April will be when we are notified.

@Lauraepp80

Called today, the lady said they will call you, I am not sure if that’s the new thing or something since they are being more open with applicants by not requiring the nomination by rep from your school.

That, or the lady did not know what she was talking about, but she was pretty clear on the early April and the call so I will take her word, obviously a little earlier can’t hurt anyone.

Good luck!

Here it says “all applicants will be notified in late March”.

the guy used to be the coordinator of JKC told me that he was not directly involved this year. He also told me that the fundation is pretty less organized…there were always mistakes and bugs during the process and they never gave the scholarship to the students recommended by my school.
So, who knows what they are gonna do this year. I haven’t heared nothing from them or from my college yet
