If any of the PTK members here are attending the annual convention in April it would be great to be able to say hello!

@fdominguez I am from the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA

Wow! Everyone is super competitive. What’s everyone’s top two universities?

Thank you @isisfv,

Yes! Everyone here is super competitive, I called today just to ask how many people were in the second phase, the rep told me about, 1,700.

Top 2:
USC and Babson College

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I decided to stay another year at my community college, so I withdrew my application. I will be sure to apply next year!

As for all Phi Theta Kappa members who are going to the Annual Convention in April, friend me on Facebook so that we can talk! I absolutely love networking and meeting other intelligent people! https://www./karina.alexia.7

I finally found people talking about this. So they started with 3000 and narrowed it down to 1700 applicants? I thought I would have a better chance than that. We will know late February who the winners are.

Btw
Gpa:4.00
Honors: PTK
Major: pre-med
Degree: AS, AA, and AGA
Avg credit hours per semester: 20
Volunteer: meals on wheels

I also made it into phase two. I am a 4.0 business student about to graduate. President of my PTK chapter, secretary of our honors program, I’m also in phi beta lambda, and SGA, as well as psi beta and law club. I have raised 1400 for breast cancer, and also participate with goodwill and a group that deals predominately with mental illness. I will be attending NERD NATION in April with my PTK chapter, Mu Omicron. I think that regarding the odds of winning this scholarship, all we can do is pray. If it is meant to be, then it will be. I wish you all the best of luck! And if you want to meet at Nerd Nation, please email me! Laura.mari.lynn@gmail.com

Just noticed the “check my status” has been removed from the how to apply page, hopefully that means, decisions are going out pretty soon! (Just like in first phase which gave decisions 2 days before they removed it)

Interesting! many people here are very competitive! I m an international student and applied for JKC scholar this year.
However, I think there are many bugs in this year’s application just as you guys mentioned before. I m international student and should not have to post tax forms for 2nd phase, so as the JKCF clark suggested, I posted letters that explain the situation. What happened to me was that I got a notification from them later that said that there are some problem with my application and they had re-opened it for me. I checked everything and found nothing was wrong. I then contacted the fundation, no one responded the phone. I also emailed them soon after that and, of cause, no one responded. After the reopened application is closed, they responded me and said the tax forms were problematic( I absolutely sure that I made 0 mistake on it). I questioned them if it was a mistake from the foundation. They told me non-sense stuff like because it is closed, so you are not allowed to change…

Anyway, not happy with their problematic application.

GPA:4.0
Honors: PTK, Mu Alpha Theta( freshman year), 3rd place in team competition during National mathmatics tournament.
Major: Chemistry
Goal : UCB UCLA Emory University for B.S in chemistry and PhD in organic chemistry

Just saw this thread.
There are a lot of amazing applicants. It would be tough to have to narrow it down to 75 scholars!

It would be great to say hi at the convention. Since the boards do not like emails, and only the beginning of email addresses post, if you post just your server with no dot com after it, is a work around for being able to post the rest of the address CC asterisked out.

And Hi to the posters!

Good luck everyone. Hope to see you all at the Scholars Weekend this year!

-- Edit --

The foundation updated their website for this year. Last year it wasn’t as buggy.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone been accepted into any of their top college choices yet? I’m still waiting to hear back from all mine.

-Nic

Anyone have their status change?

@cbsnet

I think that the status will not change, you will just get notified just like with Phase 1, by the way, mine still says recommended and reviewed

Mine still just says recommended.

Where can you check your status? I can’t seem to find the link. I was under the impression that they removed it when they renovated the site.

https://testregistration.org/rpsnr/Login.do?event=go&realm=28330770&assessment=76629&applicantType=Examinee

Hmm when I put my login info into that link it tells me that I have an invalid username or password. Not sure what that means. I know I’m inputting the correct info.
