Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship 2013-2014

@rubi2092
Well regardless, that’s a great sign for you! What are your stats? I was already accepted to two of the schools on my list when I filled out the JKCF app, so I’m hoping that those of us who didn’t receive that email are ruled out.

It looks like with @rubi2092 they just wanted to confirm that they didn’t start classes yet which of course would mean they were not eligible.

In reading the posts from previous years I did not see any other incidents where someone got this letter. I don’t think it is a indication of an award or the denial of one.

Everyone here has awesome stats and win or lose you are all winners!

@cbsnet

people last year got this same e-mail, actually I think people that got it won it.
Here’s the link just scroll down, its there:

@fdominguez

Interesting.

Has anybody else on here received that email? I would find it hard to believe that only one of the many talented individuals on here received it.

My stats is not as good as the ones I have seen so far in this forum. I have a 4.0 GPA, but I didn’t have any honor class. I am the president of my school Student Senate. I am also a student ambassador, and I am president of the engineering club at my campus. I only have around 150 hours of volunteer. I am a chemical engineering student, and I am currently interning for the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and I have also been awarded the the summer fellowship with this agency. I am a business development assistant for a small company that provide IT services to African countries, and I am also working at a restaurant. I work total 40 hours a week. For my essay topic, I talked about the different reaction of vietnamese government and the Filipino government to China’s violation to their marine territories.

The email stated “by April 1st”. Looks like they won’t be announcing winners until April unless the roll out takes several days.

Rubi— I think your stats sound amazing! You sound like an excellent applicant!

And fdom if you go to the next page someone stated that they won’t notify you with that email unless they are missing information. They want to confirm that you are accepted to a four year institution so you don’t decide to work for your dad’s company and drop out or continue your junior college education.

Yeah I thought I had a chance at this but with everyone’s stats I’m already getting depressed. For everyone with better stats than me please drop out of the running :)

Yeah I just checked the site. We won’t be notified until early April now. I’m going to have an ulcer in my stomach by then.

@rubi your stats are just as competitive as anyone else on here. How you managed to accomplish all that while working 40 hours is amazing. I’m sure if you conveyed that through your application you will get it. Manage how much more you could accomplish when your not devoting 40 hours a week to paying for college. I’m sure the foundation will take that into consideration.

Hi everyone,

I spoke with three selected recipients last year for this scholarship and they all told me that on March 19th last year (same day for all three people), they did receive the e-mail from JKCF asking them to verify their continued study in 4-year university and their top choice. The content of the e-mail is exactly the same with the e-mail from @rubi.

Furthermore, on the thread for this scholarship last year, students who did not receive the e-mail were not selected.

This consolidates my feeling that who did not receive this e-mail so far would not be selected.

By the way, @rubi would you mind to let us know the exact day you received this e-mail?

I received that email on March 25th. 2 other students from my school were also advanced to phase 2, but only one of them recieved this email, and she was the same situation with me, she hasn’t heard back from the four year school yet.

Hi @rubi,

Do you know when your friend received that e-mail?

It was on the same day with me.

It is clear now that people who did not receive that e-mail so far would be 99% not selected. It has been almost a week since the e-mail was sent out.

You never know

@Mgoggs

Yeah, I am not trying to make anyone’s day, but I also remember some people saying how instead of an email they received a call asking them what that email said, again this might be it and we all did not get the scholarhip. Regardless, I got my head up, hopes up and I am open to any outcome.

I think that because everyone here have already been accepted to the four year schools, and you guys already put the top choice in your application, so you guys didnt receive the same email. I asked the other friend of mine who didnt receive the email. He told me that on the application, when they ask “have you applied to this school”, he put no. That might be why he didnt receive the email
