Thanks for responding about the automatic e-mail confirmation. I can’t find it so it’s bugging me. I might e-mail them to inquire.

I submitted my app pretty early (December) and got the automated confirmation the same day. I had a teacher forget to send his letter, but he got it in on time after I got the reminder from the administrator. Nothing new yet from JAX, but I suppose my app was ‘completed’ fairly late, and I’d only get something early if I’d gotten in, which is, considering the acceptance rate, unlikely.

Submitted my app a few days before the deadline, and I didn’t get a confirmation email, nor can I find it it my inbox.

So to those who got accepted at Jackson and if you are planning to go to Jackson this summer, please go ahead and revoke your application to other programs. That would be very helpful to those who are still waiting to get accepted into summer programs.

agreed…

Has Jackson sent out acceptances?

Jax has, at the very least, sent out some acceptances. My son was emailed the official award letter yesterday, which detailed stipend amounts and program/proposal info/due dates. It was the second letter he received (the first one was the finalist letter that indicated he’d been accepted, but would need to confirm that he still wanted to go before they would send the award letter). So, it seems to me that Jax rolls out acceptances piecemeal, as those initial finalist letters come back (which is why, I presume, some finalist letters were sent so far in advance of the “late-March” decision date listed on the application). In other words, if some folks indicate that they won’t be attending, then more acceptances can be sent out. Or something like that. With the whole process lasting until the end of March. And it would also help keep those who aren’t interested from taking spots away from those who are. Of course, that’s just my guess, because it seems pretty silly to send out acceptances in two parts otherwise. But, hey, I could be wrong.

@adosadvising, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience - it really helped answer questions I had. Congratulations to your son’s acceptance.

@adosadvising, thanks for the info.
It sounds like Jax has made the decisions already . Does it mean for those who have not received the notification, we should give up the hope and move on?

@wishhimwell: I wouldn’t give up hope. It they are rolling out acceptances in waves, there’s no way of knowing that you’re not in the next wave. At this point, I’d think no news is good news. I know for a fact that they do eventually contact all applicants to let them know whether they have been accepted or not; so I’d presume that until you get the email saying you didn’t get it, you’re not out of the running.

I just got my rejection letter so I’m assuming all decisions are out.

GG

Thank you, and congrats to your S, adosadvising.
actually my S just got an rejected email. The e-mail said it’s 4% acceptance rate this year. He is a HS Jr. with decent stats.

That’s part of the e-mail: " we awarded only 34 research fellowships (around 4% of the total application pool). This was the most competitive year in the history of the Jax Summer Student Program."

Got my rejection email at 4:10PM today. While I’m upset, I’m certainly not surprised. Congrats to those accepted.

Same as studious!

Rejected
oh well… though if I got rejected from all I would cry

Rejected as well, but I’m hoping for MITES and LEDA. Congrats to those accepted! Have fun!

has anyone not heard back yet?

I haven’t heard back from Jax yet. I’m really scared for my outcomes though…most thought my app was very competitive :(

Haven’t heard back either, perhaps that means a waitlist?
