bump . . .

Does anybody know anything about the music ed program at IU ?

Check last year’s Master list of acceptances Fall 2011. I think Suzukimomto2’s D went there this Fall for Music Ed (violin). You could try sending a private message to get their impressions now that the semester is over. Good luck!

Hey! I go to IU. I am not music ed, but I have many friends that are. Music ed majors DO study with faculty, as a rule.

Admission is based on the audition and on a music ed interview. I actually went through this, because I auditioned and was accepted as an ed major before changing to performance. It is quite competitive, but grades and the interview may make up for playing level to some degree. They expect a level of rhythm/tone/intonation competence, lots of ‘teachability’ and a good ear. They do NOT expect a ‘finished product’ right out of high school. Best of luck to you!
