I am a NJ student and have narrowed it down to these two schools. I am going in as undeclared and don’t know for sure what I will end up majoring in though I may be interested in economics or business. Both schools seem to have strong programs and are ranked similarly in many college rankings. I’ve spoken to friends and family that have attended both schools and the respective alumni all tell me they had a great experience. Rutgers is more than 10k less per year for me as a NJ resident. JMU seems to have a much nicer campus and smaller classes on average and perhaps a freshman would feel less “lost” with the smaller numbers. Bottom line is I like JMU a little better than Rutgers but, while my parents are contributing to my costs, I will end up taking out loans whichever school I go to meaning my loan will be 40K+ higher if I go to JMU. My parents are pushing Rutgers but after doing the admitted student days this past weekend, they see that JMU may be better for me other than the financial side. They do still insist that I’d be happy at Rutgers based on friends that have gone there and friends kids that are currently there. Thoughts? TIA
