Wash U recently posted an announcement that said it wants all scholarship materials by Tuesday, January 19, although it still says that they're due on the 15th. Is this an actual extension, or does this just mean that teacher recs and all have to come in by the 19th, but the student portion should be done by the 15th. I plan to submit mine by the 15th, but I'm curious as to what the deal is here.

Thanks!

I really hope the scholarship applications are due on the 19th instead of this Friday. *sigh

Here’s the exact wording of the application deadline information, according to Washington University:

Academic Scholarship & Fellowship Programs

The application deadline for Academic Scholarship and Fellowship Programs for the Class of 2014 (our fall 2010 freshman class) is January 15, 2010.
All application materials must be received by our office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
The online application for Academic Scholarship & Fellowship Programs will be unavailable after 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, January 19.
All scholarship materials will be sent to the faculty committees on Tuesday, January 19 for review.
If you would like to speak with an admissions officer, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (800) 638-0700 or (314) 935-6000.

So I can technically send in my online scholarship application after the January 15th deadline, or it is saying that all mailed-in material have to arrive before Tuesday but not the online portions… or something else entirely?

I would think that they want the student portion which can be submitted online by the 15th and that they will accept the teacher recs that have to be mailed using their paper form and the copy of the standard rec by the 19th. This would technically allow regular mail sent on the 15th to arrive on time but I would probably send it Fed Ex or UPS or expedited US Postal mail.

I called the office. Nothing is due until the 19th. We will be FedExing everything tomorrow, the 15th, since Monday, the 18th, is a holiday.

Looks like I lucked out. Had resigned myself to cramming out two essays today…life is good.
