Umm I just remember the lines that were referenced were basically about how supporters of celebrity rights accept their point of view as “common sense” and don’t like if people ask them to back up their info.
@JuicyMango I remember that he said that he thought the supporters of common sense were bullies. I think I put something with “approach”, since he didn’t like the way those supporters were spreading their ideas.
@JuicyMango I can 100% honest to God promise you that “unuse” or “disuse” was NOT underlined. I know this as a fact. Since everything else in that problem was correct the right answer is No Error.
@garyasho2 Oh thank god…you seem to be the only other person I know who remembers that question and got that answer. I’m pretty sure the other answer choices were wrong in some way or another. And do you remember the writing question with “unuse” or “misuse” at all???
And 1 more question lol. For the timber question, why is the answer choice with “energy” in it wrong? I think both the energy and reduce steel choices are plausible, so maybe I should petition that question so CB can remove it.
@JuicyMango Does that work? if you petition they can remove problems? I want to petition the entire CR section lol
@ratclown That makes sense but now I have 4 NE’s when a lot of people said they got 3…the galaxy one, lacked (but some ppl incorrectly thought it should be lacks), this “unuse” one, and the comic one…im so nervous for the writing section :/.
@JuicyMango I put “critique an approach” for that celebrity question, because from the get-go the author disliked how it focused solely on publicity rights as obvious matters of common sense. I believe he mentioned how the issue is deeper, and we can’t accept those “rights” as matters of fact, especially considering how they benefit the already-wealthy celebrities.
@smileydinosaur Haha I’d petition the whole SAT if I could. If a problem is really vague or problematic in some way, CB can remove it. But it has to be explicitly wrong, because CB is really stubborn with removing questions. I think that timber one is a pretty vague question, but I need a lot of support to back up my claim.
For the Marion NYU passage, there is the word “memory” at the end. There is one question about the purpose of this word. Do you remember your answer?
I believe the passage made a call to action to “look in the past” and revert back to use of timber, and although it did mention moving away from iron/steel, I felt that the main focus was reimplementing the heavy use of timber. The most interesting part is that I can’t remember what I put down. (:
@SingHar17 Which is exactly why the focus wasn’t on reducing steel/plastic. But the energy choice is also disputed because of the “only” part…
@daffodile something about reaffirming his identity
@JuicyMango I think you should definitely go for it if it would easen up the curve on CR. Also the one in the NYC passage about like embodiment or byproduct question.
@JuicyMango What were the other No Errors? could you write out the questions?
Isn’t collegeboard technically not supposed to reuse exams? Cant we ask for another retake?
Also, what did people put the the CR question about inexplicable or untenable?
lol wouldn’t it be nice if CB actually read this thread and thought about all of our individual arguments? Maybe then they would understand some questions are very ambiguous…
@smileydinosaur Definitely untenable. Alright then, I’ll go for it.
@JuicyMango Darn I said inexplicable why is inexplicable wrong? dang so many CR wrong. Best of luck! hopefullyitll make the curve easier!
@ratclown I only know bits and pieces of the questions
- "far away galaxy"
- that one guy talking about a society that "lacked a sound" something
- talking about a guy trying to keep his words from "unuse/misuse" something like that
- x,y,z and comics (that was the structure of the sentence)
- something about the library of congress protecting books, including comics or something like that
