Did you guys get x=y or the origin?
@Jaybee2016 i think i only put range as same, maybe I misread the question (I was too lazy to calculate standard dev, haha)
@matchachacha Was there y=x? I picked that one.
This one was way harder than Dec for sure.
@jetynz @idkName @galaxyexplorer it was a probability problem, and yes there are infinite numbers–no where were they asking for real numbers or fractions. I too did 4/3-3/3 and divide it by the range,
@dancelance So what did you get for it?
@thegreatcatsbyx I got 4 for that one as well! I forget what i got for the (0,b) one, I just plugged in stuff for everything and checked what matched.
@matchachacha I got y=x too! I just graphed sin(x) and sin^-1(x) and it was over y=x
Wait what was the perpendicular/absolute value problem?
s
It was like there is a line 3x + 7y = 5 and ax + by = 3 that are perpendicular. What is abs(a-b) or something like that. I ended up finding that b/a had to equal -7/3 so b = +/- 7 and a = +/- 3 and then the abs had to be 4
Somewhere along those lines, obviously not exactly that, probably got the line equations wrong, i can’t remember them exactly
What about the range/standard dev/mean question? I guessed only range… I think I was mistaken by the Roman Numerals/ didn’t feel like calculating the standard dev.
How did you do the arc one? I guessed 0.3…
+thegreatcatsbyx, it was range and standard deviation, almost 100% pos
OMG I FORGOT TO MULTIPLY BY PI hits myself
No, A was 0.15; B was 0.3 I know this cause I switched my answer to B last minute.
So far, line to plane, heartbeat, arc, and standard dev/range wrong. 2 skipped. There goes my 800. (I’ll have to settle with my old score 760).
GG
@ypmagic Should I do the same? Grrr I hate this test and don’t ever want to take it again. (But then again, I’m looking at STEM schools where it is a requirement).
@ypmagic: No, if u have y=e^x and y=lnx, they are inverse functions. They are symmetric across x=y. Maybe that’s flawed reasoning but that’s what I put as my answer.
Do you think I can get at least a 780 with 2 omit, 5 wrong? Last time I took it I got 5 omit, maybe 3 wrong, and got a 760…
I’m a junior sighs I’ll be at an event on March and taking Physics/US History in May and the real SAT I in June…
I haven’t taken the math yet, skipped 2 already know I got 50 wrong, a random one, and the 8/11 one.
2 Skipped, 3 wrong, probably a couple more. I think I’m gonna not cancel my score.
Thoughts?
No SAT subject tests in March. The next one is in May.
@jetnyz Don’t cancel, you should be in the ballpark for 750+.
I calculated that if I get 7 wrong with my 2 omitted, then I have a 760, the same score as before . Will it look bad if my score is lower than my previous one? Do colleges look at all the times you’ve taken this test, or can you just pick score which is higher?
@ISayHelloWorld Really? That is probably why my friend got 800 without studying a single minute haha.
for distance between (x,y) and (0,b), i got x * sqrt(1-m^2), which was E i believe.
it sucks because I taken 9 practice test just for this subject test (which is more than what i did for ACT atm lol), and probably won’t get perfect score because my brain wasn’t get 100% during the test (was a little bit sleep). I barely had enough time to finish it. On practice tests, I finished my test and graded it, and still had like 1 or 2 minutes left. So I learned my lesson, sleep is very important.
My practice test score was:
Barron:
780,770,770,760,760,750 (love how it decreases lol)
Official SAT prep:
800, 800 (both test were barely, like raw score of 44)
Mcgraw:
770-800 (they only report ranges for some reason)
My friend didn’t study a single minute and he got 800 in the june 2014 test lol. I have the best luck T_T
