January SAT Writing--> 42/46 on MC = 69 !?!?!?!?

Can a January SAT test taker please confirm this for me? -4 raw (3 wrong answers) is a 69 on the MC for writing?

If so, then the curve was OUTRAGEOUS! Otherwise, people probably did really good on writing...

dude. i got -4 raw and got a 69 too. 9 essay. 710. BULL!

i missed 7, got a MC: 64. Essay was 9. 650 score.

except this was like may or june 08

I also got 3 wrong, and a raw score of 69. I only got an 8 on the essay, so a 680 overall. I'm retaking in March, though. That was actually a pretty hard essay prompt for me. I'm trying to figure out how I can boost my essay score into double digits. Quick question: How many examples should I aim for in the essay?

It depends on how your brain is functioning. If you can only think of mediocre examples that aren't long, then think of 3. They don't have to be long but they HAVE to show or prove your thesis/your point. In other words they don't have to be detailed but they have to explained in a way so the reader knows why it's a supporting detail.

If you only have 2 examples, and can't think of the third, then expand a little on details and talk more about how each detail in your example relates to the thesis.

If you're feeling really good and think you have 1 really good, well detailed example than use 1 example. But make sure this example has 3 seperate aspects (kind of like 3 examples). So like if you talk about how school has made you a hard-working person talk about 3 different subject areas and how each subject required you to things that made you have to work harder. Study for tests, work on group projects, and taking better notes.. etc..

Alright thanks Mde. In the prep class I'm taking I've been able to think of 3 examples for all the practice essays I did, but this real one had me stumped. I only got two, and ended up writing about a page and a half. Guess I should have expanded a bit more.

The curve was brutal because the exam was cake. Seriously, I had about 10 minutes left after I was finished with the 25 min section.

Oh wow, that curve does sound brutal.

Solution: don't miss any questions. -0 is always 800. :P Haha; I'm just happy about my 800 writing :)

And about number of examples...I always do 2 examples- 1 historical and 1 personal. And I got an 11.

i missed 0 and i got a 6 on my essay and i got a 720 T_T

i think they forgot to double my essay =P

-10 and a 12 essay for a 670. =P

I should have studied more T-T
