January SAT1's for Seniors

I couldn't find a better place to post this, so sorry if its in the wrong forum.

So, as the title says, I am considering taking the SAT 1's as a senior this January. It'll be my third time (October 08 and March 09 previously). Its been a while since I even looked at an SAT book, but this year, I haven't really been too happy (guess that depends on your point of view though), on my score. Considered taking it in November or December, but didn't go forth with it. I got rejected EA (from Yale), so looking at my application, my SAT's seem to be my weak point.

Some other colleges I'm applying to are: UC Berkeley (out of state), Pomona, Dartmouth, Cornell, Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore, and Emory (along with safeties).

I was hoping some people could give me their opinion on if I should take it or not.

Will colleges receive it on time for regular decision? Do colleges look down on taking SATs a third time? Can I get a better score even though I haven't looked at the SATs in almost a year (I didn't study too much the first times, only took a class and did what was necessary. Also, I do feel like I can do better on critical reading and writing).

Any advice or stories of being doing well/poorly would be appreciated.

Thanks!

A lot of colleges accept Jan scores, a lot don’t. You’ll need to check with each college individually.

Colleges do not look down on someone who takes the SAT three times. Any more than that is pushing it, though.

Yes, you can get a better score on your third time if you don’t study, but statistically speaking the chance of doing better is somewhat slim, particularly if you score well (1900+) already.

My advice is to study. If you really want to do better, you should sacrifice some of your free time, as much as you are willing to.

Thanks for the advice!

oh and keep in mind that when you take the january SAT, you have to report scores DIRECTLY to all colleges, so you won’t see your scores before sending!

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

^^ hey pigs does that make any difference??? if you send them directly, do the scores arrive faster?

^nooo in order for the scores to arrive in time, you have to send them when you register for the SAT, or they’ll get there too late

yea i mean, does that make any difference? they cant send scores until the sores actually come out anyway. am i wrong? and do you know which section was math experimental?
