Same for my son hoping to avoid sending out other apps…
Did your friend DM today? was hoping to see something around 3pm…per much earlier posts know they don’t like to be around for calls from disappointed deferred applicants so was thinking a Friday release…if it’s not today hopefully kids don’t have to wait until next Friday
Yes she did message today. JMU is notorious for waiting until Friday. If not today, definitely might be Jan 15 like they have been saying. Very frustrating indeed.
hopefully just following coy protocol…strange that they would post that message to instagram ‘accepting posts for future students to connect’ this Wed if they won’t know until next week
I completely agree! Hopefully it is protocol. I was thinking the same.
Club Deferred here, too. My son has been deferred at 4, and best case for JMU is likely also a deferment. Good luck to your son. Hang in there!
The fact that the JMU Admissions Instagram account hasn’t posted anything since December 18th is disappointing. Where’s the fun hype as they approach decisions?
Does anyone know what the date was last year when they started releasing decisions? I know they say Jan 15 but has it been earlier in the past? Also, does anyone know if merit will be included with acceptance or if it comes later on?
Based on a CC thread, it looks like last year was December 9th in the morning. As much as I’d like it today, Friday afternoon seems like very poor form.
thinking our kids at disadvantage because jan 1 was a holiday/friday…most things say ‘second week’ but this is technically the first working week but if you look through this reddit search it’s all over the place…1/4, 1/6, 1/10
cc won’t let me post a link but search reddit [r/jmu] early action if you want to torture yourself trying to figure out
What’s another week I guess. Idk what’s worse, waiting for a decision from a school that has already sent some out in batches or a school that hasn’t sent any.
Based on old posts… looks like merit comes later and they are very stingy with merit unless you have very very high stats and get the Dingledine scholarship which does not come out until February
@NJgirlmom we are in the same boat. Also waiting on Clemson which has been issuing acceptances since November but does its big admit in February. Tortuous.
Still waiting for Rutgers. They sent some out already but could potentially still have to wait until February also.
I liked URI’s style. All out within a couple days and included merit if any.
D is anxious for a decision but if it doesn’t come with the financial package, it doesn’t really help us that much! Good luck everyone!
I know this is a few years back, but in 2018 my son got his decision on Jan. 11th. Mid January was the target window then too.
My S received his on Jan. 9th in 2019. So it should be any day now! As for merit, they were stingy. S was admitted to the Honors College and received the Presidential Recognition Award of $5000. Late in the game they gave him an additional $5000 (he didn’t ask for it, he had already committed to another school).
chance me?
I applied to JMU EA. I have a 3.88 GPA. I’ve taken all advanced classes,English comp, and AP psychology and am currently enrolled in Dual Enrollment for my senior year. I got a 5 on my psych exam and a 4 on my AP English exam. I have work experience and tons of volunteer hours. I believe I’ve only gotten 2 B’s and 2 C’s in my high school career. I started to struggle my junior year. I’m really nervous. Would y’all mind telling me my chances of getting in
^^^ oh and btw I got my 2 C’s in advanced chemistry and ap psych. I got a B in biology and a B in ap English. But I have all A’s right now for my senior year
I think your stats are strong and you have a great chance! Early action seems be be pretty competitive, but the good news is even if you happen to be deferred, you’ll have awesome mid-year transcripts that will certainly get you accepted in the regular decision pool. Congrats on all your hard work. I’m sure you’ll get some good news soon.
