Job Fairs

Hey, I'm hoping a current NYU student can answer a few questions regarding job fairs for me. I'm a transfer into Stern (I'll be a second semester sophomore) and I'm looking at the calendar for the upcoming year.

Center for Career Development

It lists 3 events, the Part-Time Job & Internship Fair, Fall Job Fair, and the Spring Job Fair. My question is, which one of these would be for non-seniors looking for summer internships? I know the Fall job fair is supposedly for seniors about to graduate, but do employers recruit for summer internships this early? Also, are there any worthwhile jobs you can get from the Part-Time/Internship fair?

I'd appreciate any input. It's kind of a big deal since the Fall Job Fair is only two days after classes start and the Part-Time one is about two days after I arrive in NY.

The part-time one is for people who want to work during school (whether internship or not). You can go to the fall job fair if you want - you'll get free pens and random stuff and info on internships, but it's unlikely there'll be anyone there looking for summer interns. Summer internship recruiting starts pretty much the day classes start after winter break (though some companies are doing presentations very very late in the fall semester, but not accepting applications).

Ahhh okay. Do you know if the part-time fair is a good way to find work at a bank during the school year or do they most employers just post job positions on careernet? Summer recruiting is usually more organized, but I'm not too familiar with how to go about securing a part-time internship during the school year.

from personal experience, most of my friends and I have found jobs during the school year through careernet.

Thanks you two. That answers my questions. I appreciate the help.
