I want a career as a fashion publicist after I receive my bachelor's degree. I am not sure if I want to attend a more "traditional" university (i.e. NYU, Pace, Baruch, CCNY) or if I want to attend the FIT. I like the fact that my education will be fashion-focused, but I'm not sure about the stigma of attending a "fashion school".

If you want to go to FIT go for especially if you want a career in the fashion industry. FIT is a highly regarded school.

ok @ddtich15 i’m going to give you some advice. Keep in mind I was recently rejected so if my words sound a bit harsh (possibly because i feel some of the people accepted instead of me are little kids chasing a fantasy fabricated by the media and will lose their minds when they see the reality), take it in the spirit in which it was intended. Figure out exactly what you want to do in life, not just what you think is glamorous or pays a lot of money, but something you wouldn’t mind getting paid crap and working with a bunch of prima donnas for long hours; the reality often times never compares to the fantasy publicized. Once you figure that out (if it’s in fashion publicity GREAT!) align your education goals with that. If you have doubts, go with the more “traditional college” and free that seat for someone else…that way you could still get an education that could be used in other fields or industries if fashion doesn’t pan out for you.

I’ll tell you how I feel from my perspective. Basically, it’s the old saying, “What if?” I would always wonder and regret pushing the opportunity aside. Also, the other schools you considered offer MBAs. That maybe my plan someday: Get a merchandising degree from FIT and then return to school for marketing at a school like Baruch or Pace. I don’t think FIT offers masters degrees for business majors.
