job that you hate but pays well, or job that you like but min wage?

right now i'm working a job that has min wage but is funnish (when the customers aren't total iwoejfhas) and i get to interact with people. because of connections, i have the opportunity to quit this job and take on another part time job during the school year (senior year for me) that pays more and looks better on my college/job resumes (secretary assistant for law firm). does hypsm view a job at a law firm as that much better than a job at a typical teenager eque place? which one would you choose, and why?

I think the law firm sounds really fun, but I prefer secretarial work to interacting with people. I know two spouses who are lawyers, but they employ my friend their daughter instead, so I’ve got no luck.
Are you sure you’ll hate it? You could ask your future boss about a trial period to see if you like it.
HYPSM won’t care that much I think, but the difference in pay might matter a lot to you.

Im 16 and trying to get a job at a movie theater :D. might be good might be bad. im pretty sure Ill get accepted …

i watched hung earlier tonight on hbo. that seems like the paragon of jobs that pay well but suck.

Whichever job is in my line of interest. I want to become a writer, so ideally a publishing house or something of the sort would be great.

If I had to work, I’d do something like Borders, even if a fast food restaurant paid more. My happiness is not worth a couple of more dollars at most.

^ i agree…borders!

“If I had to work, I’d do something like Borders, even if a fast food restaurant paid more. My happiness is not worth a couple of more dollars at most.”

spoken by somebody who has never held a job.

I’m actually scared of rodents and the like, so I’d rather not be around that much food. That, and deep fryers are scary, so I would rather go with Barnes & Noble (or Borders).

A friend of mine has second degree burns from Starbucks. =/ She’s getting comped… But, eh. B&N seems a lot more tame.

hahaha well my friend who is about to go off to college is working there now (= my connections), and he tells me that it’s horribly boring. but i dunno, the extra bit of money could add up over time…

I had a great time working as a computer technician at a local computer shop for minimum wage. Unfortunately I had to quit since I moved and it was like a one hour drive.

this is kind of obvious but id thought id post anyway. Working 10 hrs a week 50 weeks a year at a job that pays 7 dollars an hour will net 3500 a year. Working the same amount at 9 bucks an hour comes out to 4500. I think that is a pretty typical schedule for a high school employee so after working for 2 years you will be $2000 richer is it worth it
