For the supplement, I wrote something along with basis of: I begin by talking about conflict, then I talk about the most meaningful person in my life, my mom, how she very loving but has a behavioral/anger problem that damages our family relationships. It explain that is her plight that makes me want to study behavorial biology/psychology so i can help hers and others like her. Is this a good idea?

Every college I’ve visited-including JHU!-has warned of students who write essays about people who inspire them, and they end up with a great essay about their grandma, but give very little insight into themselves.
As long as you focus on you and not your mom, you’ll be fine-if she is really the inspiration for your major, then it is definitely appropriate to write about her.
…I’m just assuming you’re referring to the question on the supplement on why you picked your major…

Yeah just reenforce what Mandy said JHU even made a blog post saying that they hated that.

But for the “why you picked the major” 250 essay its ok to write about that?
