Johns Hopkins Class of 2025 Waitlist Discussion

Its been like that for awhile now. We don’t really know why, it started last week.

I posted this a couple of days ago but it kind of got lost in the thread.

If anyone was still wondering about the JHU portal being inactive, I asked the apphelp email and they said:

Hi

No, this usually happens about this time. They are probably updating the system. I haven’t heard anything about the extended waitlist being released yet.

Yes, only one. Hoping that we hear (something good) today as well!!

Should one of us submit a call request form at this point?

I don’t know if they even look at those, I’ve submitted 2 or 3 and never got any response.

Oh! I just submitted one. I’d done one before decisions original came out to check if they’d received my mid-year and got a call for that. Guess they might just be leaving the waitlist ones unanswered.

Yeah it seems like they leave anything related to the waitlist unanswered :weary:

It’s the 18th. Most of us are moving within the next couple days, we have to hear something at this this point - they’ve got to say something!

Just read this on JHU’s Reddit page, but apparently, internationals are having trouble with visas, someone’s was even rejected. Thinking there may be people who defer because of this and it may also explain why we haven’t heard anything yet.

If internationals are being rejected in getting visas, Is it possible that hopkins will admit more internationals from the waitlist to meet their quota for international students?

could you send the link to where u read that? thanks

No idea. I don’t think they have quotas (read an article somewhere quite a while ago that it’s illegal for schools to have official quotas; however, they do try to diversify their class) and if visas are falling through, wouldn’t they admit domestic students? Regardless, Hopkins does admit more internationals than others so they may not have a “quota issue” if some defer. Again, I don’t know for sure, this is just my opinion.

Here’s one of them: https://www.reddit.com/r/jhu/comments/p3ynhr/what_to_do_when_you_cant_reach_campus_but_have/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Can’t find the other right now

Kind of want to make a burner email and just curse them out. Just emailed my regional counselor. She said her general copy + paste response of: no updates at this time but make sure to check your inbox blah blah blah. Idk maybe I wanted her to throw an apology in there? Or something?

JH is just heartless.

This is crazy, the wait, the uncertainty, everything! Especially when they’ve said they may take some, they’ve made the waitlist more selective (further hinting at taking some), but they don’t give any clear updates or answers.

I would replace heartless with :sparkles:unprofessional:sparkles:
