You should work on bring the ACT scores up. Try reading silverturtles guide on the ACT and Jeandavches (or something). They really helped. I’m also applying to JHU (my mom went there… so yeah). Good Luck!!

you have decent EC’s and a good rank, apparently. they like the see that your GPA and test scores make sense, say you had a 3.5 and a 27, that wouldn’t be shocking. but if they see a 4.0 #1 in your class with that ACT score, they might be a little confused. I read on their admissions counselors blog that they go back and look at the ones with uncorrelated GPA and test scores more closely

@nehc97 can you please explain that a bit further?
I’m not getting you.
Do you mean that they’ll doubt my profile?
Or that they might ignore my ACT?

I would say, everything else looks solid, but your score is certainly not a feature they would consider a positive. That said, there are candidates that have been admitted with that ACT, but you certainly need to make up the difference in your essays, personal statement and possible interview.

@kiani6996 you will most likely have issues. i applied with a 28 act ED. i have publications and STILL got rejected. they told me my weakness was act of course and tht i took calc 1 senior yr. (i wanted to go into pub health)

The score is too low, and your financial aid app will hurt your chances.
Even if you get in, if you don’t get aid in first year, you can’t get aid in subsequent years.

@kiani6996 Yes, I did apply for financial aid. I am applying again this year, except regular decision. I took a gap year. My ACT score is now a 33. I still have a sad GPA but this is truly my number one choice. I really hope to make it to Hopkins
