@northstarfx okay thank you lol I’m just being paranoid
You guys I just found this poem I wrote about jhu over the summer
@Rojahne post it!
@mikadog lol it’s really long but I feel like we can all relate to it so I’ll post it later tonight!!
Does anyone know how often Hopkins defers?
(i havent heard much about defers from jhu)
I really just want a straight up acceptance or rejection…
^ Hmm they dont seem to release the deferred amount. I’d say around 150- 200 though.
Why would you want to be rejected, rather than deferred? Deferred is giving you a second chance.
@nevergiveupp just a personal preference I guess…
Did anyone here attend any JHU Summer Programs? Any idea if they give a slight bump to students who attended?
I did not do one but colleges aren’t allowed to accept based on an opportunity that only some students had; however, it is possible that they take it into consideration.
Even though I haven’t attended any JHU summer sessions, I would think that it does give you a bump. More than what you did over the summer, it certifies that you’ve been to JHU, you know what it’s like there and you really do want to be a part of it. Even though what Joey said still holds true, colleges use this statement frequently (like lack of SAT 2 scores won’t negatively impact your application) and revel in its vagueness. Of course colleges can’t accept you just based on the fact that you have attended one of their summer sessions; the application process is a culmination of everything in your app (including essays and scores etc). However it most definitely does boost it. Especially if they’re comparing you with a student that took part in a summer session elsewhere.
i don’t think it weighs that much, but like @joey374 and @Awesomenitrocity said, they might take it into consideration
Guys does anyone feel like they only asked for tax forms from people they are admitting? I doubt admissions is doing any extra work so i dont think they would collect them from people they know are being denied. Not including of course the people who didnt apply for financial aid.
@ivydreams411 don’t be too worried about it. They review the profiles in the order they are received and the admissions and financially aid office are two entirely different entities
@rojahne I know theyre seperate in terms of like they wont deny you because your family needs s lot of aid but i feel like they must have communication with each other by now.
@ivydreams411 yeah true but either way it’ll only stress out out more by trying to figure out what little things like that mean. I know it’s hard but try to stay positive!!!
@ivydreams411 I am 100% positive you have nothing to worry about. As @Rojahne stated, they process in order and the two divisions really do not discuss/discriminate over applicants. Besides, I have seen your stats and you look exceptionally qualified for ED. I also sent you a PM…
Just dropping in the mandatory countdown timer http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/to?iso=20151211T15&p0=419&msg=JHU+ED+Results+&font=slab&swk=1
I am driving myself crazy with all of this waiting.
I am having so much difficulty with financial aid stuff because I kept getting emails saying that I was missing things that I had turned in until I finally realized that I had accidentally turned in an application for 2015-16 instead of 2016-17. I am worried that I’m putting in all of this effort and getting my hopes up only to get rejected later.
@northstarfx how do you view other peoples stats? I’m not looking to stalk anyone haha i just wanna know
@joey374 Haha…I have special powers! JK- I saw her stats from another thread she posted on CC.
@MKirsten
May I ask where in Canada are you from? I am also a Canadian applicant
