JSA and Yale Young Global Scholar

Has anyone heard of the JSA or the Yale Young Global Scholar? Are they selective? Are they worth and how about the chances of getting financial aid? If you have already attended, would you be so kind to read my essay, please? Thank you very much…

I can read your essay @yowaytogo send me as a mesage

So I applied to both programs last year and I go into both. I don’t think JSA is that selective, they have rolling admissions and I received notice of acceptance two to three weeks after I applied.I think it’s more of a “you have a decent GPA, some extra curricular’s and interest in politics and you’re in”. For YYGS only 200 students get accepted per session maybe 75-100 of the students are international and the rest are from the united states. In all honesty I am not sure how or why I got in, I didn’t submit my psat scores because they were low, my gpa wasn’t that great either it was like 4.3 W and 3.75 UW. One of the things I think they look for is diversity and varying opinions. I feel like te reason I got in was because of my background and my essays. If you make yourself standout, you can get in.

@Canndaayy You already found out you were accepted into YYGS?

So where did you go last year? My PSAT Score was low but the school had submitted them and I couldn’t stop them. But I believe i could make myself stand out. Btw, did you get scholarship?

@plutonium73 no, I went last year I’m graduating this year

I ended up going to YYGS because they were giving me more money and because I felt like the program was better… To me it seemed like JSA accepted almost anyone as long as they payed (I could be wrong but that was the vibe I got) YYGS was more selective and I felt like I would get more out of it. @yowaytogo‌

First and foremost, congratulations! How was YYGS? Is it taught primarily by one professor, and did you get to know the professor really well, well enough for a letter of recommendation? @Canndaayy
