I was about to buy the Dell's customized Latitude E5400 (33% discount) yesterday then for some reason I didn't buy it. Do you think there will be a laptop sales on July 4th?

I think so, but not very likely.

Dell’s deals always recycle or get better. Keep watching! Also consider their Outlet for laptops. We have one we got from the outlet in out house and it works beautifully.

Good luck ordering online. I just ordered a Studio 17 laptop for my son and it was sheer torture! I did the configuration last night and got a final price with instant discount and school discount. Saved it to my wish list, and the discount changed. Printed it out, and the discount changed again. Placed it in my cart, then clicked Checkout–got an error message telling me it couldn’t be processed right then and I should use the Back button on my browser and try again. When I did, the cart was empty! Trying to access Chat just led to an error message, so I got disgusted and went to bed.

I tried again today. Got everything configured, including a 7200 RPM hard drive that wasn’t even on the list of choices yesterday. Not taking any chances, I saved the cart–and the discount changed again. I went through checkout and entered my address, phone number, and credit card number. So far, so good. When I clicked Submit, I got a page saying I was missing 9 pieces of information–including my name, address, phone number, and credit card number! Oh, and the discount amount changed yet again.

Trying Chat led to an error message again, saying the page was no longer on the site. So I called Dell and ended up talking to a very nice woman from India with a thick accent. She had to repeat herself a few times, but eventually I was able to place the order. There was an icon on the site for a cart/checkout survey so I clicked it, wanting to give them a piece of my mind. Par for the course, I got an error message saying the survey had ended in November 2008.

I’ve bought three other computers from Dell over the years, with no problems. I sure hope the quality of the laptop is better than the ordering experience…

theres pretty much a different sale each week. its kind of funny to watch. the best deals aren’t advertised though, and use limited use coupons.
check [Gadget dealz of the day - Gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/tag/gadget-dealz-of-the-day/) for a running list of preconfigured deals, and occassionally store-wide discounts. i bought an hp last month with a $200 off coupon.
