Lowest CR score: 630

pretty proud of myself on this. I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable with the passages now

Lowest Math: 540
Highest: 620
Avg: 580
math, i was ■■■■■■■■ on this test, i’ll get it next time

Lowest Writing: 470
Highest: 590
Avg: 530

 • past 3 tests, i’ve been getting 39 and 38* (got a 37 on this one) gay, several stupid mistakes.

I WILL take a FULL test tmr. 3 hrs, 45 min. super gay. But i gotta do what i gotta do. I’ll continue posting and updating. Thanks for the encouragement for those that see something beneficial in this thread.

Goals:

 1. get back my math score.
 2. get less than 9 wrong in CR
 3. writing is just meh.

oh yeah, I know these scores aren’t awesome. But I’m doing what I can, and I’m trying… just to put it out there.

oh yeah, one more thing. I forgot who recommended marking the referred lines and underlining the words they ask for in the CR, but it seems to help. I don’t do it for the whole thing before reading, but I just mark maybe half the passage or a column. And i go from there.

One question, what is Xiggi’s method? It seems like everyone else knows it except for me.
Same here, critical reading is my weakest part!!! Don’t know what to do.

Jumpngo seems to have his own little SAT blog =D

I have begun my arduous journey of SAT prep just as you have and if I might share a tip I think helps me to score decent on the Writing/Reading part (if not on math =/ )

Use words that you learn through prepping for SAT or just reading in general in your daily life or even while posting on here.

While people might look at you funny for saying you have had an epiphany about a book you were reading in English class it will give you your own mental note as to what the word means should it appear on your SAT.

My CR was my weakest. It might still be, but its pretty damn close to my second weakest which is writing I think. However, my Math score may be lower but that might be the cause of the super harsh ass curve they have. Anyways, just start reading everything and treat it as a SAT passage, trying to find the implied, suggestions, tone, etc. And do the practice tests, b/c you’ll eventually get the hang of the questions and they donto’ seem as hard. And Xiggi’s method is the first thread on the SAT page “Xigg’s Prep Advice”.

To: Tilgaham
Thanks for the advice, I’ll try to implement using vocab in my writing/talking more more than I was before.

and yes , I do seem to have a SAT blog dont’ I. It’s good support, easy access, and I can help others that are in the same boat I am.

Update: I did my full SAT this morning (excluding the essay, which means its not full but w/e)

Thoughts: I definately brought my math score up from the last test, but my CR score def. went down b/c time was an issue with this test. I had 1-2 that I couldn’t get to b/c of time. Writing should be pretty good, higher than any of my other ones but you never know.

With this test I took very very vyeryyvyeyryyeyryer few breaks. Like 1 min, 2 min, b/c I needed to write the #s down / pee
AND i had no breakfast which got to me at the end, but I still ate/stomped on the last writing section with 5 minutes left over.

My conclusion: Taking with no breaks and not eating breakfast for my practice tests will give me a lil somethin somethin on test day b/c i had such an “ascetic” / “austere” / “abstemious” training regime.

Subject Scores or Score Ranges/ # Right #/ Wrong #/ Omitted
Critical Reading 610 - 670 /53 /10/ 4
Writing 410 - 520
(MC: 51-61, Essay: N/A) 31 /18 /0
Math 620 - 680/ 45/ 9/ 0

Still pretty gay… Will go over mistakes

jumpngo, do you have the online course? Is that where you get the explanations to go over your answers?

yes thats correct. I’d recommend getting the online course.. it auto grades which is very convenient, and provides explanations which is gold.

when you look at the scale are you just taking the lower one and breaking 2000 for that or what?

well i’m aiming to get there. but its hard as balls. super balls.

Pure Logic: p. 584 #10
Careless: p. 585 #14; p. 613 #8; p. 615 #16
Unfamiliar: p. 586 #17; #19; p. 598 #13; p. 614 #14
Exterior angles: p.615 #15

no i meant…

are you hoping for your practice test to be 2000 - _____ or ____ - 2000

realistically

I’m hoping my next full practice test will be in the high 1900s. And my separated tests to break 2000. And I don’t know what realistically means until I fail my high expectations. if you know what i’m saying…

bumping this thread. How r the practice tests going?

yeah, he kinda just stopped updating.

yeah its been like 2 weeks. But its okay, with AP exams and school year ending, everyone is bz.

Just remember, Grubers for math, got me from a 630 to a 740 on the real thing…
