oh yeah, what was Dutch spice trade map?

I'm confused about that too, tsh1226. I'm pretty sure the trading post map was Portugal, not Netherlands (giveaways were Macao, Goa, and Mozambique among other East African city states).

And there weren't 2 European power spice trade maps.

54. ■What Persian empire did not have : rep. govt?

correct

73. ■Causes of WWII or WWI: I thought it was WW1 which is the assassination of this prince by the Serbians

Wasn't the question which was NOT one of the causes? In which case the answer would be American imperialism.

the question was how did river valleys help with agriculture in civilizations such as mesopotamia, egypt, and indus valley - irrigation of arid soil is correct. supporting this, it is known that mesopotamia developed advanced irrigation systems.

Here's the wikipedia entry on the Delian League: "The Delian League was an association of fifth-century BC Greek city-states (approximately 150)under the leadership of Athens, whose purpose was to continue fighting Persia after the Greek victory in the Battle of Plataea. According to Thucydides (1.96), the official aim of the League was to "avenge the wrongs they suffered by ravaging the territory of the king." In reality, this goal was divided into three main efforts - to prepare for future invasion, to seek revenge against Persia, and to organize a means of dividing spoils of war. League members swore to have the same friends and enemies, and dropped ingots of iron into the sea to symbolize the permanence of their alliance."
So this should definitely validate that it was to protect against Persia (did this question ever create any controversy?)

Representative government was correct, it was the thing that Persia didn't have

Again, the question was which is not a cause, so American imperialism was the correct answer (everything else caused WWI)

Is no. 7 really mercantilist??? cuz the document had NOTHING that was mercantilist... i put racism cuz they were like we're not going to pay with silver bullions for trade, we're going to barter.... doesn't that mean they're comparing african slaves as lowly people who are so primitive that they only want goods and not money????

what were the choices?

because of the choices, I recall mercantalist making the most sense. It was all about how the slave trade was still very profitable at the time.

but that doesn't mean britain was mercanilist. britain NEVER was... um the only two choices that could have been the right answer was mercantilist and racist.

it seems like we've reached our breaking point... i guess we can't remember anymore of the questions

What do you mean Britain was never mercantilist? I thought the whole idea of mercantilism is that a mother country creates a favorable balance of trade with the territories in its empire. Britain did this, notably with its colonies in the Americas/Caribbean and India.

The only problem with the "mercantilist" answer is that Britain didn't have colonies in Africa during the major period of the slave trade. So I have slight doubts.

I don't think racist works for the passage though. The passage didn't seem to reflect a racist attitude at all. It indicated that the slave trade should continue because it is very profitable for Britain.

Most of the short passages of a writer had two questions corresponding to it. I am not sure if we took that into account.

Was there a question about the meaning or where the Fertile Crescent was??? I remember that, but it might have been on a practice test.

I also remember the fertile crescent question. I don't remember the exact answer, but it was something along the lines of "a river valley located in southwest asia." the other choices didn't make any sense.

mercantilist means that the government have practically a monoply of trade and that the common people don't at all... there was no indication of that in the passage.... for example, a mercantilist country was that of France under Louis XIV (basically mercantilist goes with absolutist countries)... anyway, i agree with the answer for the fertile crescent question
