I'm incredibly confused about this one now.

Sufis were successful

Here's what my AP world textbook (Traditions and Encounters, by McGraw-Hill) says about Sufi missionaries:

"Sufis were especially effective as missionaries because they emphasized devotion to Allah above mastery or doctrine. They sometimes encouraged individuals to revere Allah in their own ways, even if their methods did not have a basis in the Quran. They tolerated the continued observance of pre-Islamic customs, for example, as well as the association of Allah with deities recognized and revered in other faiths. The Sufis themselves led ascetic and holy lives, which won them the respect of the peoples to whom they preached" (367-368).

I'm leaning towards the "emphasized devotion to Allah" answer, because that basically comes straight from my textbook. It also says that the Sufis were accepting of pre-Islamic customs, but it never says the Sufis adopted non-Islamic customs.

Meiji Restoration: A Legitimate Emperor was placed on the throne (Hence the next person in power was EMPEROR MEIJI)

Again, my textbook says that "the 'sacred and inviolable' emperor commanded the armed forces, named the prime minister, and appointed the cabinet. The emperor also had the right to dissolve parliament, thus effective power lay with the emperor, whom parliament could advise but never control" (903). So this validates the legitimate emperor answer.

I put French, since France lost almost all of its American colonies at some point, and previously, it had one of the largest colonial empires.

What marked the end of the French Revolutionary Period? I think I put the Congress of Vienna.

The map of the arrows going from East Asia to the Pacific Islands was the migration of the Polynesians/Melanesians.

I think there was a passage with Machiavelli as the answer.

Thanks Dolewhip... Do you remember any more questions that are not on this list?

Dude...17 is England that was gaining power....go to wikipedia...a naval battle between the two competitors gave ENG the power to dominate dude

o and 50. Sources of Immigration: West Africa

Hey add this: 50. Most immigrants to Americas in the 19th century(similar): west africa??
and answer to 46 is Lenin
and aren't 45/49 the same thing

-Dude...17 is England that was gaining power....go to wikipedia...a naval battle between the two competitors gave ENG the power to dominate dude-

I'm not confused about the actual history. I'm confused as to what the question was. If the question was while the Dutch were gaining power, then Portugal's power would be waning. If the question was while Dutch power was waining, then England would be gaining power. I don't remember what the question was, but I wasn't the only person to read it as "While the Dutch were gaining power."

There was a Code of Manu question (I left it blank), and a question about differences between Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox (I left it blank, but I think the answer was authority of the pope).

o 45/49 is the same thing
