If anyone’s spending thousands of dollars on a tutor then that’s your problem. Sorry to sound harsh, (not really though) but that’s just ridiculous. Besides that, if you get a tutor and then you’re thrown by one little change on the test that simply deals with slightly different questions, then your tutor sucks and you should get a new one. Yeah, it was a bit disconcerting and I was a bit annoyed by it too, but it’s not that big of a deal. It’s a tiny change in format. If people can’t handle that, good luck with all the crap you’ll be dealt in college.
I really don’t want to sound rude, because that’s not how I’m trying to come off as, but that’s just the truth.

it’s so not fair tho… I honesly am so upset by this I was scared enough thinking I only have June and sep… and then they go ahead and change the format… how am I supose to study for sep now there’s no new books or anythig … :((( ugh and my aug test sucked … I was aiming for a 27 on this and now I hope I get at least a 26

April test sucked not aug… there is not aug

Dude…I’m sorry but you absolutely CANNOT expect to do well in college if you’re freaking out about that. You can’t just study directly to the test and get good results–well, you can, but you can’t in the rest of life. It’s the exact same passages you would have, except shorter, there’s two of them, and you have to compare between two passages instead of two paragraphs–almost a combination of the SAT and ACT. Anyway, it’s literally no different from the science section. I think you’re just psyching yourself out because you went in with a rigid expectation. There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t do passages like that if you can do the rest of them. If you have problems with the reading, you can pm me and I’ll help you (I got like a 35 last time or whatever so it’s one of my stronger sections). But if you’re good with the rest of it, you will be absolutely fine. Even if you struggle with the reading section, BELIEVE ME, you’ll be okay :)

This thread is making me doubt myself…

@DL43516 Why is that?

it’s just that I always hated reading I found it hard to read a passage and answer 10 questions in like 8.5 min. i finally thought I got the pacing down better and was doing better , when I took the one today the 2 passage thing threw my timing off so I decided to move on and guess on the last 4 questions of that 3rd passage (also prob should have done the 3rd passage last)

and I mean I get what your saying before I really do but it’s just when ur not good at a section and ur finally started to get the hang of it and they do it differently is could seem like day and night

Oh yeah, you definitely just psyched yourself out then. I bet if you had it again you’d be absolutely fine. If you’re not a fast reader just go straight to the questions though; you’ll give yourself more time. I read quickly, and I’d say if you can get yourself up to ~800 wpm you can read (at the rate which would be skimming to others) and then answer the passage. It’s actually not too hard to train yourself; I went from 700 wpm to 1400 in two months–just keep your comprehension up. If you choose to do that.

@GB1904 just because I was sure of myself when I left my test center but there are plenty of people on here with different answers and now the test questions are kind of foggy and I’m not as sure of my answers. Idk don’t mind me lol

I’m scared cuz I’m a junior so I only have like sep and maybe oct. that’s it!. and I Tryed the questions first and find it taking lifer cuz u have to find the answer. if it’s a quick easy passage I’m good with but when it’s harder or loger it’s hard to keep up with time. also skimming I feel like instill have to go back and find the answer

Nooo @Dl43516 see this is why I hate/love these threads…because plenty of people have the same answer but plenty of people are wrong. I mean, there’s really no way to tell until you get your scores. (which apparently are coming out earlier than they usually do! hooray!) I took it in February and thought that, based on peoples’ answers, I would end up with ~24 composite, but I ended up in 30-36 range. (sorry, I don’t like sharing my exact composite.) Take my advice, don’t worry about it, watch some of your favorite TV show or something, and try not to spend too much time on this site. It’s kind of like dating a bad boy/girl–you learn some tips and tricks and have some fun, but you’re also being repeatedly punched in the face :D

GB thanks for being so clam tho haha it calmed me down

Michelle, you class of 2015?If so, you don’t have to worry because the new format shouldn’t really affect you

yeah I’m class of 2015 … really? how come it was a bit diff on this one… is sep gonna be bak to normal?

Am I the only one who thought the slight changes to the test were fair? They just asked for a little more critical thinking and will inevitably separate the better from the best in terms of scores. Thought the Ray Bradbury section was very fair, especially because synthesis is integral in college and higher education. It’s a bit ridiculous that people study for days or weeks for this test and then complain about a few slight changes, when, ultimately, the entire exercise is testing how the student applies the knowledge they’ve accrued throughout high school.

I’m not saying the changed r bad I’m just saying the reading one trough my time off cuz it had me by surprise plus I’m just worried in general

I’m leaving it’s almost 1in the morning… I hope u all get great scores!!!

Oh cool Just like me.What colleges u plan to apply? And tests tend to throw in surprises lol
