June 2006 - Biology

dude u serious?? i did a project on trisomy in 8th grade science fair

09, couldnt agree more

lol, k nvmd then, other people i talked to said they were looking for 23 at first too.

its 49, other people have confirmed with "100% sureness"

Trisomy - when 3 chromosomes are located in a pair, instead of two, trisomy 21 = the genetic disorder DOWN SYNDROME (this is imp. to know)

It was 24 because if you counted it, there were 23 somatic pairs and the X and Y pair. This was not a human. For the last question, it was 25 or 49 depending on what the exact wording of the question was. (i put 49, only read it once though)

Yep i agree with optimus

Um do you guys remember what you put for that question on M that was like: what could prevent fertilization? I: blockage of fallopian tubes II: too much LHS before blahblah III: sperm dying from acidity

I put I and III .... i think almost the same one was on the princeton review

nm this was answered a lot before...

haha does college confidential have a poll feature?? because i think the karyotype/trisomy question would be best solved with a poll... :) and maybe collegeboard will choose the same answer :P ...

I dont want to get my hopes too high on this one..although I felt better about this than U.S History. Definetely easier than AP Exam for this course(that was a killer...) How big is the curve usually? Is there any way to find out results earlier than June 23?

i thought the trisomy was pretty straight forward..

OK heres another question i just wanna clear up:

Influenza is caused by a virus right? and what was that other disease..(started with an 'm' i think) was that one caused by bacteria?

Danggit!! that 'm' one i was referring to was malaria...and its caused by a protozoa -__-

Does anyone remember the begining of the test about DNA, TRNA, and RRNA, and MRNA?!! what were the answers to those

I think I missed 7 max and skipped 3.

What's the curve and projected score for me?

Some questions..

-Infectious agent= virus or bacteria?
-One that causes malaria= protozoan..damn i put virus...
-Darwin question...isn't it the one with allele? They had no genetic knowledge back then..let alone allele...
-Another Darwinish question...something about reproduction, number of offsprings..or something like that..what was the answer?

i think this was on E

wat was the sewage one; was it it killed the O2 in the water?

Yup, it was.

for the darwin question, i think it was number who reproduce

i thought natural selection was 'survival of the fittest'

fittest=sexual reproduction
so...survival of later generations =reproduction

i have 3 wrong and 2 skip so far.

darn!! i put the ability to survive for that darwin one >.<

here's the curve from the realsat (you'll have to scroll down on the page) and here's the curve from kaplan (very similar):
80 800
79 800
78 800
77 800
76 790
75 790

67 750
66 750
65 740
64 730
63 720
62 710
61 700
60 690
59 690

34 560
33 560
32 550
31 550
30 540

i heard the curve from may was pretty lenient, and people who thought they would do bad did better than they thought... but i don't want to get my hopes up (6 or 7 missed depending on the trisomy question)...
